Installing language support
by Rahul Sundaram
Hi,
Following
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=496542
Instead of cherry picking individual packages (such as the ones
containing the localized strings, spell checkers, input methods etc)
necessary for locale support, you can either use PackageKit, click on
"Package Collections" and select the appropriate language or just do
# yum install @<language>-support
Example:
# yum install @bengali-support
@ is a short cut for group installs,
Group installs provide not only a quick way to install the necessary
packages but also conditionally install packages on demand.
For example, when you do this, openoffice.org-langpack-bn or
imsettings-xfce will be automatically installed if and only if you have
Openoffice.org or Xfce respectively already installed on your system.

Hi,
As per my knowledge, as ns1.csmanipur.co.in is not registered with any
registrar or you can say no dns server is having any entry related to it,
so, it has no meaning even if you configure it on your server. Your
csmanipur.co.in is being resolved only because nameserver ns3.zonedit.com
and ns8.zoneedit.com contains its entry.
1)
If you want to be a hosting provider, read the link:
http://www.icann.org/en/registrars/
This link contains complete details for how to become registrar.
But I dont think it is affordable.
2)
But if you just want to maintain your own dns server, ask company where you
registered our domain name that you want to register your nameserver, your
problem will be solve.
3)
And if you just want to maintain your webserver locally, it will work as dig
resolves to your ip address for csmanipur.co.in. You just need to configure
you webserver.

Sunil Datta

I think what you are trying to say is that you want to remove the
ns3.zonedit.com and ns8.zoneedit.com from you domain record and add
ns1.csmanipur.co.in and ns2.csmanipur.co.in instead. I believe that this is
impossible to do. You can try to understand it this way:
1) The csmanipur.co.in domain can be resolve only if there is a record in
some nameserver
2) If you remove the ns3.zonedit.com and ns8.zoneedit.com then your domain,
csmanipur.co.in cannot be resolved
3) If csmanipur.co.in cannot be resolved then ns1.csmanipur.co.in will also
not be resolved
4) If ns1.csmanipur.co.in cannot be resolved then csmanipur.co.in will will
also not be resolved whose record is contained in ns1.csmanipur.co.in. This
brings us back to point 3 and is a cycle thereafter.
I hope you understand the problem. Instead of using ns1.csmanipur.co.in, you
can use your public IP instead of ns1.csmanipur.co.in as the nameserver
address. But it would be better if you leave the zoneedit nameservers as
they are.
Hope I have been able to help.
Regards

[FYI] Regarding receipts for Fedora Events
by sankarshan
It would be wonderful if the following things are kept in mind:
- arranging/clipping the bills by type. Or, arranging all DVD related
bills together, all photocopy related bills together etc
- ensuring that the description/narration is legible. If I have to
take time to understand what the bill is about (sometimes the shop
name/related bills aren't a giveaway), it is counter-producitve. If
the bill narration does not make sense, it becomes a bit difficult for
me to file it in the expense system and, consequently, it becomes
difficult to re-imburse.
Note that till now, I had been transfering monies on receipt of the
bills and not waiting till I put it through the entire expense cycle.
With the increase in the number of illegible bills, I am going to
reverse this system. Re-imbursements would only be paid on bills that
get accepted by the system.
- it is understood that sometimes bills for items like transport etc
will not be available. However, that has not stopped these bills from
being re-imbursed till date. Moving forward, this is going to be
discretionary. If there are no bills for items like DVD, DVD covers
etc. there would be no re-imbursements.

You are welcome. Apart from Kolkata city and very few cities the average
copper
loop length of BSNL network to its subscribers is always more than 3
kms. and
mostly ranges between 4 to 5 kms. So actually Kolkata and its adjoining
areas is
a special case where the average copper loops are in the order of 2 to 3
kms.
Longer loop length and bad quality loops (multiple joints etc.) requires
the LCP
configuration all the time.

Going by the larger numbers where such service is provided all over
India now, this
part on LCP needs to be added. One can easily see the logs and find the LCP
timeout and retry attempts. The document is (named so) targeted at BSNL
broadband
service users with linux / fedora as OS therefore, in my understanding
the correctness of
the document for unsuspecting users requires that the BSNL specific
issues be clearly
and be very much a part of the main document and not pushed to a corner
as an addendum or erratum.
pppoe s/w and the related configuration files were not written keeping
in mind the
BSNL broadband service. But this document is written especially for
using BSNL
broadband service, so this document has to be correct from that
prespective for sure.

It does not work in many cases, where the copper pair length is very log
or the
copper pair quality is bad (ADSL "sync" LED takes longer time to become
steady).
In such cases the LCP timeout interval has to be increased in the
ifcfg-ppp0 file.
