[Fedora-i18n-list] Fedora 3 and jdk font and input support
by Ken Frank
Can someone point me to specific items in mail archives
or elsewhere or just give me their own feedback
about how jdk5 works with fedora 3 to display multibyte
like from ja and zh_CN and zh_TW locales ?
(and if there are any problems with that)
Also, are there any issues with using IM from java programs
that run under jdk5 ?
Thanks - Ken

[Fedora-i18n-list] How can I enter Polytonic Greek in FC4?
by Schlaegel
I'm using Gnome and would like to enter Greek into Open Office.
Earlier I asked this on the Fedora list and got no replies. I believe
this list is more specific to my question, and hopefully with generate
some answers.
I installed a few polytonic Greek fonts (Aristarcoj, Code200, MgOpen, Tahoma).
With these fonts I can view polytonic Greek in Firefox, and copy
polytonic Greek from FireFox into Open Office.
I made a failed attempt at entering polytonic Greek by adding the
"Keyboard Indicator" to the panel, then adding "Greek Polytonic" to
the available keyboard layouts. When I selected "Greek Polytonic" as
the input group I couldn't figure out any way to type breathings or
any accent but acute (uses the semi-colon key). I noticed that the
Keyboard Preferences dialog has a small graphic of the keyboard
layout, but the graphic is too small to find the breathings and
accents.
Is there a correct way to enter polytonic Greek?
Is there a way to get a printout of the current keyboard layout?
What keys map to regular breathing, rough breathing, iota subscript,
grace accent, and circumflex accent?
PS.
I love the way OSX does the dead-keys; it draws the character without
advancing the cursor.

[Fedora-i18n-list] Typing high ASCII
by Not Here
How do I enable typing high ASCII character by Alt - numpad in Linux?
I want to keep the US keyboard and en_CA language. This works fine in
every version of Windows, but I haven't been able to figure out how to
get Linux to do the same, I believe the Latin-1 charset would do it,
but how/where do I enable it?

Subject: I can't get japanese input work under Polish (pl_PL.UTF-8) locale

Hi. I am trying to do this but unfortunately with no success. I have
installed Canna and IIIMF, then made symlinks in /etc/alternatives nad
/etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d so that pl_PL is symlinked similarly to ja_JP
and the others. Moreover, I have uncommented qt input method in
/etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/iiimf. Then I have done some tests. Running
LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 gedit or LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 kwrite results in Japanese
interface and working iiimf, I am able to input japanese text using
ctrl-space. But running any program without locale or with
LANG=pl_PL.UTF-8 enviromental variable does not seem to have any result.
What is wrong here? Greets.

Ctrl-Shift-Space should allow you to change input language in qt apps
with iiimf-qt.
