[Fedora-i18n-bugs] [Bug 1116676] New: filter keyboard layouts by geometry
by Red Hat Bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1116676
Bug ID: 1116676
Summary: filter keyboard layouts by geometry
Product: Fedora
Version: rawhide
Component: langtable
Severity: low
Assignee: mfabian(a)redhat.com
Reporter: petersen(a)redhat.com
QA Contact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: i18n-bugs(a)lists.fedoraproject.org, mfabian(a)redhat.com
Description of problem:
This may be a crazy idea I am not sure yet (which came up during
Fedora i18n discussions around https://fedorahosted.org/i18n/ticket/26
but in principle it seems it would be useful to filter keyboard layouts
by their compatibility with a chosen keyboard geometry.
There are various difficulties here:
- parsing of the xkb data files itself will be complex
- assuming it is possible to get this filtering to work
applications like anaconda will need some subtle
or larger changes to support setting of keyboard geometry
separately from keyboard layouts.
Still it seems like a worthy goal to try to reduce or structure
the current large amount of clutter currently when making keyboard config
selections.

File:
/usr/share/xml/iso-codes/iso_3166-2.xml
contains a text:
code="CZ-10" name="Praha, Hlavní mešto" />
but there is a typo, it's not supposed to be "mešto", but "město" instead.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I do not know what the upstream for this is, I might probably not have an
account there too, thus I'd like to ask you to upstream this ticket, if
possible (the URL from `rpm -qi iso-codes` points to
http://alioth.debian.org/projects/pkg-isocodes/
, which I cannot open for some reason).

[Fedora-i18n-bugs] [Bug 1626384] New: Replace CJK fonts packages with google-noto-sans-cjk-ttc-fonts
by bugzilla@redhat.com
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1626384

Product: Fedora
Version: rawhide
Component: lorax

CC: anaconda-maint-list(a)redhat.com, bcl(a)redhat.com,
dmach(a)redhat.com, i18n-bugs(a)lists.fedoraproject.org
Description of problem:
runtime-install.tmpl has some CJK fonts packages like vlgothic-fonts,
naver-nanum-gothic-fonts, and wqy-microhei-fonts though, we want to replace
them with google-noto-sans-cjk-ttc-fonts which is default CJK fonts in f29.
Additional info:
runtime-cleanup.tmpl also contains some to drop bold fonts for
naver-nanum-gothic-fonts. it should be dropped too. and you may want to do
similar for google-noto-sans-cjk-ttc-fonts too to save more space.
For reference, this is the file list in the package:
/etc/fonts/conf.d/66-google-noto-sans-cjk-ttc.conf
/usr/share/fontconfig/conf.avail/66-google-noto-sans-cjk-ttc.conf
/usr/share/fonts/google-noto-cjk
/usr/share/fonts/google-noto-cjk/NotoSansCJK-Black.ttc
/usr/share/fonts/google-noto-cjk/NotoSansCJK-Bold.ttc
/usr/share/fonts/google-noto-cjk/NotoSansCJK-DemiLight.ttc
/usr/share/fonts/google-noto-cjk/NotoSansCJK-Light.ttc
/usr/share/fonts/google-noto-cjk/NotoSansCJK-Medium.ttc
/usr/share/fonts/google-noto-cjk/NotoSansCJK-Regular.ttc
/usr/share/fonts/google-noto-cjk/NotoSansCJK-Thin.ttc
and we maybe need Regular variant only in the installer image?
just for note of the size consumption, 3.4MB will be increased by this change.
The detailed estimation:
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 3.9M Dec 6 2014 VL-Gothic-Regular.ttf
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 4.2M Sep 30 2014 NanumGothic.ttf
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 1.5M Sep 30 2014 NanumGothicLight.ttf
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 5.0M May 25 2009 wqy-microhei.ttc
and

Blocks: 1625773 (PY2REMOVAL)
In line with the Mass Python 2 Package Removal [0], the following (sub)packages
of ibus were marked for removal:
* ibus-py2override
* ibus-pygtk2
According to our query, those (sub)packages only provide a Python 2 importable
module. If this is not true, please tell us why, so we can fix our query.
Please remove them from your package.
As said in the change document, if there is no objection in a week, we will
remove the package(s) as soon as we get to it. This change might not match your
packaging style, so we'd prefer if you did the change. If you need more time,
please let us know here.
We hope this doesn't come to you as a surprise. If you want to know our
motivation for this, please read the change document [0].
