I just got a chance to try, and no it doesn't help. I'm actually pretty sure
I've hit this problem without virt-manager running anyway, so I no longer think
that's a good theory. However I think it may have something to do with
workrave. I'll try killing that instead of the screensaver when it next
happens.
I haven't been able to reproduce by manually locking the screen.

Update it with:

as soon as you are able to.
