Bug ID: 1099074 Summary: Processing Dependency: golang-docs = 1.1-2.fc19 for package: golang-godoc-1.1-2.fc19.x86_64 Product: Fedora Version: 19 Component: golang Severity: high Assignee: adam@spicenitz.org Reporter: dridi.boukelmoune@gmail.com QA Contact: extras-qa@fedoraproject.org CC: adam@spicenitz.org, admiller@redhat.com, golang@lists.fedoraproject.org, lemenkov@gmail.com, lsm5@redhat.com, renich@woralelandia.com, s@shk.io, vbatts@redhat.com
Description of problem:
I'm trying to install the golang-godoc package but it fails. It's looking for golang-docs which is provided by golang, but the required version doesn't match.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
golang-1.2.1-1.fc19.x86_64
golang-godoc-1.1-2.fc19.x86_64
How reproducible: always
Steps to Reproduce: 1. sudo yum install golang 2. sudo yum install golang-godoc
Actual results:
Resolving Dependencies --> Running transaction check ---> Package golang-godoc.x86_64 0:1.1-2.fc19 will be installed --> Processing Dependency: golang-docs = 1.1-2.fc19 for package: golang-godoc-1.1-2.fc19.x86_64 Package golang-docs-1.1-2.fc19.noarch is obsoleted by golang-1.2.1-1.fc19.x86_64 which is already installed --> Processing Dependency: golang(x86-64) = 1.1-2.fc19 for package: golang-godoc-1.1-2.fc19.x86_64 --> Finished Dependency Resolution Error: Package: golang-godoc-1.1-2.fc19.x86_64 (fedora) Requires: golang(x86-64) = 1.1-2.fc19 Installed: golang-1.2.1-1.fc19.x86_64 (@updates) golang(x86-64) = 1.2.1-1.fc19 Available: golang-1.1-2.fc19.x86_64 (fedora) golang(x86-64) = 1.1-2.fc19 Error: Package: golang-godoc-1.1-2.fc19.x86_64 (fedora) Requires: golang-docs = 1.1-2.fc19 Available: golang-docs-1.1-2.fc19.noarch (fedora) golang-docs = 1.1-2.fc19 You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest
Expected results:
Is this ok [y/d/N]:
Additional info:
I couldn't find golang-godoc in pkgdb2, so I'm filing against golang.

--- Comment #1 from Vincent Batts vbatts@redhat.com --- Dridi, the upstream had split out the godoc from the main go source tree, and this bug was caused while we got the rpm dependencies straightened out for golang and golang-godoc.
Can you try again with the golang-1.2.2-7, to ensure the issue is resolved for you?

Dridi, the upstream had split out the godoc from the main go source tree, and this bug was caused while we got the rpm dependencies straightened out for golang and golang-godoc.
Hi,
Thank you for your answer, I figured it was caused by a split upstream. I have just found golang-godoc, and reassigned this bug to the right component.
https://apps.fedoraproject.org/packages/golang-godoc
I have successfully installed golang-godoc-0-0.3.hg17c8fe23290a.fc20 and couldn't help noticing the version number set to 0! And AFAICT the Epoch number wasn't bumped.
Can you try again with the golang-1.2.2-7, to ensure the issue is resolved for you?
I can't! I was waiting for a bug fix in fedup before upgrading to f20, and since last week all my laptops run on f20.

--- Comment #5 from Fedora End Of Life endoflife@fedoraproject.org --- This message is a notice that Fedora 19 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 19. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '19'.
Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.
Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 19 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.
Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.

--- Comment #6 from Fedora End Of Life endoflife@fedoraproject.org --- Fedora 19 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2015-01-06. Fedora 19 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.
If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug.
Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
