Note that you can manually push the package to stable if you think it has
been adequately tested and you can't find anyone else to test and update
karma. You just need to wait a week (or two?) after the package hits
testing.
The other concern for games is the conflict between Fedora's updates shouldn't
have big changes versus some games need to be up to date in order to be
able to play with other remote players. This is a judgement call by the
packager.
Indeed, for Red Eclipse in Fedora I've taken the approach to do full
updates in most (all so far) cases.
The old client will still work with the online system provided you can
find older servers and players, but there are normally few, if any,
available, also upstream doesn't support older versions at all
basically.
On Debian and Ubuntu which upgrading like this seems to not be an
option, hence I've been using backports there instead. But since this
appears to be acceptable on Fedora (and backports don't exist
separately), I reckon that it's more useful to Fedora users providing
the latest.
