Hi All,

As we discussed in the monthly meeting last week (sorry for the
delayed followup), we can have a workshop theme for this years
conference. As we experienced last year, the conference provided a
common platform for experts from language technology domains. We also
saw a lot of people discussing and trying to solve many of the
technical and tactical problems during the breaks and open sessions.
So this time why can't we make better use of the available skills in a
more formal way.

I think we could do following to make this years event even more
productive and creative:

1. We can have two sets of parallel events during the conference
      - Presentations
      - Workshops

2. Above can be scheduled either parallel to each other or the
workshops can be held separately, if required, more than one workshop
at a time. Since not everyone would be interested and required for
every workshop, only the relevant people will attend one workshop
while some other group may continue with some other workshop.

3. The workshops can either be directed or only be facilitated. Which means,
       - In case of Directed, the conductor of the workshop will have
set of activities outlined beforehand, and the participants will work
on them, and get some specific task done in the group.
       - In case of Facilitated, there is no need of set of predefined
tasks, but only problems of similar kind will be floated for
discussion so that anyone with expertise can suggest the solutions and
help each other.

4. In the CFP, we can give these two types for the session,
'talk/presentation' and 'workshop'.

5. For small issues not worth conducting complete workshops, we can
ask people to post their issues, problems, queries at one place, a
wikipage will do for this. In the final schedule of the conference we
can group these queries into relevant sessions which could be
conducted as 'facilitated workshops'.

Any ideas, suggestions and list of queries apt for the event can be
collected here https://fedorahosted.org/fuel/wiki/FuelGilt2014Suggestions

Please contribute on the page to give more inputs to the organizers.

Regards,
Rahul.

Hi all,
I think Rahul has a valid point when suggesting these.
