Hey All,
Would like to ensure that if a DHCP server issues an IP, that it also checks the FreeIPA (DNS) to ensure that IP hasn't been defined before.
Anyway to do that?
Currently if a virtual host has been offline for a while, the DHCP serves it's IP to new hosts being built.
Either specify static allocations in your DHCP server, or set the IPs statically on the nodes from outside the dynamic range, or just enable DDNS updates in SSSD and it should update your DNS records to match whatever IP the node gets at boot.

1) Will try static allocations.
2) Set IP's statically: Not an option for me. Need them taken from a pool but more intelligently then DHCP has been doing.
3) DDNS updates would conflict with ipa-client registering the same machine I think. Correct me if I'm wrong here.
4) I've already scripted pulling the IP from DHCP using dhclient, checking IPA against reverse lookup then assigning it if it's free. So I'll adjust it in such a way that it will skip calling dhclient, and do the DNS checks and basic ping / nmap checks to see if it's free. Was hoping to get DHCP configured to check DNS to leverage the capabilities of both tools.
Cheers, TK
