Thanks for the feedback. I was able to restart replication on the
system. There was a typo in the /etc/hosts file on sump causing it to
look at the wrong host on the networkand this came from earlier
troubleshooting of DNS issues.
I appreciate all of your help and patience in this issue. Should we
ever meet I'll need to buy you a beer.

Need more "logging" than that :-) Can you provide a snippet from just
the access log (~50 lines) during the time the replication
initialization was attempted? <this would be the logs on sump>
