This doesn't work in general on RHEL-6. I don't know why it ever did, for you and I'm suprised it did, but in general, short name output is only supported in never versions that RHEL-6 ships. And even in RHEL-7+ it is /strongly/ discouraged to use shortnames in output.

The only thing that RHEL-6 supports in this respect is the default_domain_suffix option, but the output will always be qualified.
