I'm trying to fix this ticket: https://pagure.io/freeipa/issue/8227 It seems like the DNS SOA serial is being ignored and a new one is assigned every time a new DNS zone is added. I can see this is because of the serial auto increment feature. There was an option to disable this behavior, but was deprecated a long time ago (IPA 3.3.3 https://www.freeipa.org/page/Releases/3.3.3) as apparently the autoincrement is a requirement for some DNS features. Interestingly enough, setting the serial via dnszone-mod seems to work fine, so maybe it can lead to inconsistent behavior.

How should I proceed? Maybe removing the option for setting the serial entirely?
