Problem:
when enable subpixel in gnome-tweaks, the default rendering config will not work well as other Linux.
Temporary Resolve:
copy those files to this directory /etc/fonts/conf.d/

I hope packcage maintainer could change those files intend put them on right place.

--- Comment #1 from Marek Kašík mkasik@redhat.com --- Hi, you have to be more specific. "Will not work well" is too general.
Is the issue about how the subpixel rendering look once enabled?
Or is it an issue with enabling it? In this case it should be reported against the gnome-tweaks tool. It would be also helpful to know which window manager you use and in which application you reproduce the issue.

--- Comment #6 from Kevin Kofler kevin@tigcc.ticalc.org --- The real issue there is not the subpixel filter (both the "good" and the "bad" images appear to apply the same filter there), but the hinting settings.

--- Comment #7 from zhaohongxinxin@163.com --- I downloaded some package from dnf, Those files belong to "fontconfig". To resolve this bug may need to change the build config of rpm or Makefile of software.

--- Comment #8 from Akira TAGOH tagoh@redhat.com --- GNOME (or gnome-tweaks) should have own default value for sub-pixel rendering. those config is written like respecting it. So if they change something after copying them into /etc/fonts/conf.d, that may means they have some problem to enable it. and I'm afraid I can't make it off hand because that may also means it will take effects on all the desktops for users. We need more observation for that change and need to change the default value on each desktop environments too if it is really best.

--- Comment #10 from zhaohongxinxin@163.com --- I just installed latest Arch Linux with GNOME Desktop, It has this problem too.
But the first half of 2020 of Arch linux does not have this problem, all font rendering is well.

--- Comment #11 from Akira TAGOH tagoh@redhat.com --- According to "when enable subpixel in gnome-tweaks" in the original comment, there might be something wrong in gnome-tweaks or around. reassigning to gnome-tweaks so far. as it also says "Temporary Resolve" there, it isn't a bug in fontconfig.

--- Comment #12 from Ben Cotton bcotton@redhat.com --- This message is a reminder that Fedora 33 is nearing its end of life. Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 33 on 2021-11-30. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '33'.
Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.
Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 33 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.
Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.

--- Comment #15 from Ben Cotton bcotton@redhat.com --- Fedora 33 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2021-11-30. Fedora 33 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.
If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug.
Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
