Depends on: 578015

Description of problem:
All of detailed information is available on my post at the fonts list:
http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/fonts/2010-March/001117.html
binding="same" in the fontconfig config file prevents to apply the rule for the
specific
language only properly. As a result, fonts is used for non-targetted languages
and it may gives different look and feel in some cases.
I'd propose to get rid of binding="same" from:
66-ipa-mincho.conf

Description of problem:
The spec file for pango-1.24.5-1.fc11.src.rpm lists the required
fontconfig_version as 2.0, but it will only build properly with fontconfig 2.5
or greater. With fontconfig 2.1 installed rpmbuild generates an error.

There is a new official release available. Also, there is a literacy version
available, and a compact literacy version available. I don't know the font
policies, but I would recommend packaging all three separately. Then F10 users
could use the new font and have the literacy package pulled in so there is no
loss of the literacy font.
Note: At SIL upstream, Charis Literacy and Doulos Literacy are combined into a
single download.

I installed the i586 pango package on my system to try out picasa. Didn't like
it, so I removed picasa and the required i586 packages.
Removing pango generated this message:
Erasing : pango 13/27
/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.7R5mvR: line 24:
/etc/pango/i386-redhat-linux-gnu/pango.modules: No such file or directory
I only have /etc/pango/x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu on my system.

Summary: numerals aren't fixed-width in all sizes of sans font

Summary: numerals aren't fixed-width in all sizes of sans font
Product: Fedora
Version: rawhide
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: low
Priority: low
Component: dejavu-fonts
AssignedTo: nicolas.mailhot(a)laposte.net
ReportedBy: cje(a)btinternet.com
QAContact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: nicolas.mailhot(a)laposte.net,
fedora-fonts-bugs-list(a)redhat.com
Classification: Fedora
Description of problem:
in the default font and size used in firstboot the '5' digit is a slightly
different width, i think. so in the 'date and time' settings screen the text
shuffles a bit as the seconds and minutes tick through 05/15/25 etc.
ah, actually, it looks like it's a hinting problem - this happens with 'full'
and 'medium' but not with 'slight' or 'none'. not sure if that means it's a
problem with freetype rather than the font.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
freetype-2.3.9-3.fc11.i586
dejavu-sans-fonts-2.29-2.fc11.noarch
How reproducible:
always.
Steps to Reproduce:
1.install fedora
2.in firstboot go to date&time screen
3.watch the time ticking and observe text layout
alternatively log in and enable seconds display and 12 hour mode on the panel
clock and watch that.
Actual results:
layout 'jiggles' as numbers change.
Expected results:
no jiggling.
Additional info:
i think this has been like this for a year at least.
