Online map (was: Re: Booklet text help!)
by Rafal Luzynski
Hi,
For those using Google/Android technology, as a side product
of our efforts to prepare the maps for the Flock attendees,
here is an online map:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1jaMfMOHsqFBuPtR65eKM9o52Mp4&usp=sharing
Feel free to use it in your devices. There are multiple layers
related with different kinds of interest (event, getting there,
hotel neighborhood), you should switch in on/off according to
your needs.
Cross-posting to speakers and attendees lists to make sure all
interested people get it.
Regards,
Rafal

Games Night on 2 August 2016
by Brian Exelbierd
Hi All,
As you may know, on Tuesday 2 August we will have two evening activities
going on at the same time. The first is a fantastic city tour of Old
Kraków. The other is a games night.
The games night will be held at the hotel and will feature games from
three sources:
1. Filip Kłębczyk will be bringing a supply of board/card games with
him. Many of them may feature rules in a language you don't speak for
games you know. Please consider downloading PDFs of rules for the games
you like in a language you like in advance. It will save you searching
for them at the event.
2. A group called DKIG will be setting up a retro-gaming zone of about
12 classic machines. If you are interested in what they are bringing,
take a look at this photo gallery: http://www.dkig.pl/galeria-zdjec/
3. You, yes YOU(!) can bring some games to play and share. Please be
considerate of our community and keep games friendly. To pick on
example, Cards Against Humanity is a game that many people enjoy,
however it has a strong potential to have both cultural and
offensiveness issues. If you bring a game like this, consider finding
like-minded people and playing in a non-public space.
Looking forward to seeing you all,
regards,
bex

I've just arrived this morning and have sorted this out, so thought I'd
share if anyone else was interested. First off, I was able to buy a
SIM at the airport for 5zł, but, as Rafał pointed out, it was
worthless. To actually use the SIM, I needed to activate it at a
proper shop with real identification (i.e. my passport).
I ended up going to a Salon Play in a Kaufland at https://www.google.co
m.lb/maps/search/salon+play/(a)50.0913723,19.8570229,12z/data=!3m1!4b1 wi
th my passport and got a Play Internet na Kartę 9GB for 19zł ($4.83)
plan. It doesn't seem to support LTE, but I get H and H+ just fine,
and that's all I really need.
They also told me that there's some promotion that will give me 100GB
for free for 30 days, if I type in a USSD code (*111*300*1#) tomorrow.
We'll see if that actually works.
I did try T-Mobile first, but they told me I'd have to go to a store in
the old city, while Play was willing to take my passport information
and give me a SIM right there.
Rafał, thanks for the pointers. I got there in the end.

Prepaid sim cards?
by Ricky Elrod
Are there any decent options for places to buy a prepaid SIM card with
data in the area near the hotel? Is this something I should try to get
at the airport instead?

Arrive in the morning?
by Rafal Luzynski
Hi,
Some people have already announced that they would like to
arrive in the morning, at 9 am or 10 am. Please be aware
that the hotel check-in starts at 2 pm. [1] If you are going
to arrive before that hour please contact the hotel staff
directly or contact me. The hotel staff said that they will
try to accept the guests at earlier hour but even if they
know that you are going to arrive early it may not be possible
to prepare the hotel room for you because the preceding guests
are allowed to stay in their rooms until the noon (12 pm).
Regards,
Rafal

1 August: the sirens
by Rafal Luzynski
Hello everybody,
I assume that most of you will arrive to Krakow on 1 August
because this seems to be the most convenient date. Please
be aware that every year that day at 17:00 (5 pm) the civil
defense sirens are activated for about 1 minute in (probably)
whole Poland. The aim is to commemorate the anniversary of
the Warsaw Uprising. That's not a surprise that the special
celebration takes place in Warsaw. Please don't be alarmed
nor scared, it's not going to announce an air ride nor any other
similar danger.
I hope you'll all have a safe travel to Poland and back home.

Room Share?
by Nathaniel McCallum
I've booked the hotel for the conference itself, but I still need two
nights: Sunday 31st, Monday 1st. Does anyone have an extra bed for
those two nights? I can split the cost with you.
