Hi everyone,
We had a really good meeting today. We managed do some work on restarting the mentorship programme - agreeing on what we think a mentor is, and what the aims of the mentorship programme itself are.
Complete meeting logs are here:
17:03 <@zodbot> Minutes: https://meetbot.fedoraproject.org/fedora-meeting-3/2017-02-27/fedora-join.20... 17:03 <@zodbot> Minutes (text): https://meetbot.fedoraproject.org/fedora-meeting-3/2017-02-27/fedora-join.20... 17:03 <@zodbot> Log: https://meetbot.fedoraproject.org/fedora-meeting-3/2017-02-27/fedora-join.20...
A short summary:
What do we mean by a community mentor? - ---------------------------------------
https://pagure.io/fedora-join/Fedora-Join/issue/26
In short, we agreed that a community mentor is not a classic school teacher type guide. Rather, it's a friendly community colleague who is an experienced Fedora volunteer skilled in certain (or many) areas of community work, and who volunteers to be the primary point of contact to newer community members. Such community mentors will help newer members when required in whatever ways they see fit - helping them find information, teaching them processes or software, connecting them with other members of the community, and so on.
What are the aims of the mentorship programe? - ---------------------------------------------
https://pagure.io/fedora-join/Fedora-Join/issue/25
In short, the aim is to help newer community members learn and integrate quicker by linking them to experienced community members. To do this, among others, the mentorship program will:
- - encourage experienced + skilled community members to sign up as community mentors
- - set up and maintain the processes + infrastructure required to manage community mentors: - - * addition of new mentors - - * maintaining an up to date list of current mentors (and who they're currently guiding) - - * removal of mentors (due to inactivity, for example) - - * track performance of mentors
- - set up the processes + infrastructure required to help community members find mentors
Find/create new cool term for "community members" - -------------------------------------------------
https://pagure.io/fedora-join/Fedora-Join/issue/24
The rebranding would help relaunch the project. Something that a theme can be built around would be nice? There are some suggestions on the ticket, please add yours too.
Master tracker ticket - ---------------------
https://pagure.io/fedora-join/Fedora-Join/issue/18
I've converted this into the master tracker ticket. Next time we meet, we'll work on each of the duties of the mentorship programme to come up with the actual workflows/infrastructure.
As always, your input is always welcome! Please either comment on the tickets on the trac or here on the ML itself. - -- Thanks, Regards, Ankur Sinha "FranciscoD"

Hi Ankur,
Sorry I couldn't make it for the meeting as I was organizing a CTF event. Will catch up soon on the tickets :)
