We've been meaning to restart the mentoring project for a bit[1].
We now
have a few extra cycles to work on this. The original project (now
inactive) was aimed at helping prospective contributors find
contributors who were happy to volunteer their time to help them out[2].
Having a mentor that one can work with greatly improves the onboarding
experience. (When I'd started all those years ago, I had a few folks
from Fedora India helping me out :))
I think it was set up quite well, and we simply need to restart it with
a few tweaks, some fresh marketing?
What do folks think? We have a few tickets filed about it already[3].
Sounds awesome. I can't take lead on it, but I'm happy to support.
Would a few folks like to take the lead on this? A few wranglers
that
can keep progress ticking and remind the rest of us to do our homework
would be awesome!
Maybe Ben, our new program manager, can help with the "keep progress
ticking and reminding" part?
