Please take this opportunity to introduce yourself and ask *any* questions you have. We'll be more than happy to help you become a part of the Fedora community!
There's a lot of work going on in Fedora with Fedora 21 coming up really soon. We have a lot of testing, a lot of marketing, a lot of designing, a lot of events, and of course, a lot of development. It's a great time to join in and get started!
PS: Fedora 21 is at RC5 (release candidate 5)! If you haven't begun testing it yet, now is a great time to begin!

I hope you've informed the QA list, which is the correct place for this information :)
We'll try to keep the list on-topic - for new people looking to join the community.
Hi, Please allow me to briefly introduce myself. My name is Will; I'm not an IT professional, but I've been using various distributions of Linux exclusively at home for over 15 years. I recently retired and am now a full-time college student so I have a little bit more time on my hands than I'm accustomed to. I'd like to contribute back to the FOSS community, and the Fedora Project seems to be very welcoming! I recently earned the RHCSA so I thought that I'd try to learn more about the Infrastructure Project. If anyone has any advice on that I'd love to hear it.
As far as testing Fedora 21 goes. I just installed the MATE spin on an Acer Aspire V5-122P last night. It's working perfectly! Thanks, Will

Welcome to Fedora! The infrastructure group is always looking for new people to share the load. They actually have a really well defined process for new comers. It's detailed here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Infrastructure/GettingStarted
It's quite simple really - introduce yourself, get added to the apprentice group and get your hands dirty, and when you're ready, you get sponsored to the main infra group. If you do run into any issues, ask away - I do tinker with infra a little, but not to much ;)

That's really good to hear! If you run into any bugs, do file them and inform the QA team so that the rest of the community is aware of them.

I appreciate the advice. I'll check it out as soon as the semester is over. I wish I would have done this a long time ago! Thanks again, Will

I am basically a new comer here. I was a non-participant, but linux user for a long while, until I retired on 31 Dec 2013, when I became proactive.
I am not an expert, but have 55 years in IT doing system configuration, capacity planning, performance tuning, system modelling and system / network architecture (physical). I have worked as a designer, developer, project manager, team leader in ERP, touching all kinds of business systems in discrete manufacturing, aerospace, process control, warehousing, logistics and the like. Along the way I taught programming, logistics and university level mathematics. Currently I am writing some code to look at security, and the need to help companies comply with legal requirements (Sarabannes Oxley law). Yes, 55 years in IT is many many years to work, and it took that long for me to obtain my experience and knowledge. Where I see my role, is in testing (Q/A) and in mentoring. Hi Sanjay! Thanks for the invite. Since you ask... I started programming On a C-64. I studied art and music as a high school student. I have an associate's degree from Lincoln Technical Institute in electronics engineering technology. I used to develop on wintel systems, but windows 8 was the final insult. I am now running a dual boot of Windows 8.1 and Fedora 20. My current dev project is for the Samsung S Pen, so it runs on Linux too. The last time I used a Windows based web server was the year 2001. I currently study design and pixel art and do many drawings with my awesome s-pen, I am currently adopting html5, and in love with the canvas tag. I live in New York City. I would love to help what can I do? On Dec 6, 2014 10:12 AM, "Ankur Sinha" sanjay.ankur@gmail.com wrote:

Hi Sonfack,
Welcome to Fedora!
Are you speaking about system programming as in kernel development? Fedora being a Linux distribution is "downstream" to the Linux kernel team, i.e., development occurs upstream and not at Fedora. The Fedora kernel maintainers do make changes but these are all submitted to upstream.
If you can clarify what it is you're looking for, I may be able to provide more information.
