Hello,
I'm a 17 year old high school student from India. I've been using linux for two years now and fedora since last year (I've used debian before). I really like the fedora platform and am interested in contributing to the Fedora project. I want to know the options available to me to contribute in this project!
FYI -
1. Being a high school student, I'm not very proficient at coding, yet! (I just know some C++ and basic Java)
2. I'm quite comfortable using BASH, though.
3. I think, I have good communication skills! (Of course, I'm fluent in English!)
4. I love science.
5. I love open source.
6. I'm good at reviewing.
7. Since, in my country (particularly my region) most people use Microsoft Windows and have very little knowledge on GNU/Linux based open source solutions, I really want to make them aware of the vast and amazing open source world they are missing! Fedora is a really good community driven open source OS and that is why I want to john this project!
Hope, I'd get some recommendation on what I could do to contribute.
Thanks. Madhurjya Roy
I suggest that marketing team might be a nice place for you.

Thanks.

That's okay. While coding is always awesome, few roles in Fedora really require it.

Always useful! One way you can put this to use is to write for http://fedoramagazine.org/ -- see http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Magazine for ways to contribute. (Right now, we're looking to increase the number of posts -- small, daily things are better than big, polished articles, although of course we can use those too.)
- I love science.
You might be interested in helping with the Fedora Scientific spin -- see https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Scientific_Spin. Or, back to the Magazine idea, articles about science and Fedora would be great.
- I love open source.
Of course. :)
- I'm good at reviewing.
Depending on what kind of reviewing you mean, here, this could be articles about programs you like in the Magazine. Or, perhaps you mean technical review of packages? In that case, we can _always_ use more. See http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Package_Review_Process

Sounds great, and welcome!
Thanks you for your great advice! Looking forward to be a Fedora Magazine contributor.

Hi Madhurjya,
I see you've already introduced yourself to the marketing list. Awesome!
I wanted to just point out that there is a fedora-india mailing list too that you could use to get to know your local community. If you're around Bangalore, they're holding regular monthly meetings that would a great place for you to meet them in person.
If you need any help, please just ask.
Have fun!
Hello Ankur,
Thank you for your suggestion. I've already subscribed to the Fedora India mailing list.
Unfortunately, I live quite far away from Bangalore. So, going to the meetings would not be possible!
Still, I will always try to keep myself updated through the mailing lists and fedora forums.
Thank you.
