Introduction
by vdwemil
Hi all,
My name is Emil van der Westhuizen. I am a computer engineering graduate from South Africa. I work full time as a full stack web developer. I'm interested in getting more exposure to/learning about developing services, applications (gtk and command line), and lower level system components.
Experience with Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) communities/ecosystems:
This will be my first time contributing to an open source project.
I hope to learn a lot and make more and more significant
contributions to the open source projects that I love and use on a
daily basis.
If anyone would be kind enough to offer some mentorship and help me
get on my feet with the fedora project and making contributions, I
would be very grateful.
Background/skills:
I've only been using Linux (and some FreeBSD) operating
systems for 7 years now. Fedora is my distribution of choice and
it's what I use on my personal machines.
I'm proficient with Linux and administering it from the command
line. I'm very familiar with git and use it daily.
Programming languages I mainly use and have experience with:
- Python
- Javascript (and some frontend frameworks, mostly Vue)
- Rust
Experience in communication platforms:
- I have not used mailing lists before.
- I'm open to using any chat platform but do prefer open source solutions.
- I've not moderated or administered forums before.
- I will be setting a target of contributing 2 to 4 hours a week minimum and work my way up to contributing more.

Dear Fedora Community,
I am a contributor of the iSecWay company and I am interested in becoming a Fedora contributor. Our software, iSecWay, helps companies build secure private networks and I would like to submit it to the Fedora repository for wider use.
I am an active member of the open source community and believe in the power of collaboration. I believe that my contribution can add value to the Fedora community and I am excited to be a part of it.
My contact information is dev(a)isecway.com. I look forward to hearing from you and joining the Fedora community.
Sincerely,
iSecWay

CentOS Infra ticket account
by Li Jinghong
Hey,everyone.
My name is Jinghong Li, and I'm the administrator of a newly built public
mirror.
I would like to register our mirror site as an official mirror. According
to the official documentation, I registered a CentOS account, but this
cannot be used to log in to the CentOS Infra ticket. How should I get a
CentOS Infra ticket account?

Fedora 37 Cinnamon (window borders)
by vladch
Hello!
My name is Vladislav, I have been using Fedora for a long time, since 2017.
In Fedora 37 Cinnamon's window manager Muffin is now based on Mutter 3.36.
In Fedora 37 Cinnamon metacity themes are no longer used.
You have removed window borders from System setting / Themes and it is now impossible to customize the design of the working environment window.
In other distributions Fedora 37 - MATE, Xfce, KDE installed window borders and configuration is available.
If possible, create a separate window manager or borders manager package to configure the working environmentin Fedora 37 Cinnamon (it is installed in Xfce, MATE, KDE) or otherwise - without it it is impossible to configure a good design.
(for Fedora 37 Cinnamon developers)
Thanks, Vladislav

Fedora 37 Cinnamon distribution missing Themes Options Window Borders
by Vladislav Ch
Hello! My name is Vladislav, I have been using Fedora for a long time, c 27.
But settings are missing when upgrading from Fedora 36 to Fedora 37
window borders themes - these are not available in the Fedora 37 Cinnamon distribution.
Other Fedora 37 (MATE, Xfce, KDE) have the window border setting set.
All Fedora 36 Themes window borders installed.
Are they not installed in Fedora 37 Cinnamon?

Introducing myself, Jonathan Bowman
by Jonathan Bowman
Greetings, and thank you for the welcome ticket
<https://pagure.io/fedora-join/Welcome-to-Fedora/issue/285>! My name is
Jonathan Bowman, and I am a software engineer who writes SQL by day, but am
also a Linux and Python hobbyist.
Interests that draw me in: web development, Podman and Buildah (and
containers in general), system configuration using Bash, Python, and/or
Ansible, and blogging <https://dev.to/bowmanjd>. While I use Fedora on my
personal laptop, I also have been using Fedora on Windows Subsystem for
Linux at work, for years. You can read about getting that to work
<https://dev.to/bowmanjd/install-fedora-on-windows-subsystem-for-linux-wsl...>
.
I would love to give back to the community, and I am quite flexible with
how I can be involved. Packaging feels comfortable to me, as does
documentation, and anything involving Python. For instance, if there are
orphaned packages that could do with some care, I would love to hear what
next steps would be involved. I could also suggest some packages that could
be considered for inclusion, but I think it would be good for me to learn
more about the process first.
Parts of Fedora I use and care about the most:
- sway/wlroots/wayland
- Python and Python tools/packages
- Neovim and Vim
- Podman, Buildah, Docker
- Anything that makes the command-line experience blissful, such as
ripgrep. bat, and the like
I have been using Linux and open source software for decades. I started
using Redhat 5.2 in 1999, and for a few years used Debian, then Archlinux.
I tried Fedora some years ago and haven't looked back since. I tend to use
Alpine or a RHEL derivative in containers.
I am comfortable communicating, submitting PRs, answering (and asking)
questions in forums, etc. Email and Matrix and Discord are communication
tools with which I am confident, but I am flexible (IRC is fine, for
instance).
My first language is English, and my Spanish and Arabic are probably not
proficient enough to be useful to anyone.
I can and do use Gimp and Inkscape when necessary, but design is certainly
not my first language :( I am much more comfortable writing and reading
computer languages or English.
People that work with me generally affirm that I am a thoughtful engineer,
and also a good communicator, conversationalist, and can even make people
laugh at times.
I feel like 2-4 hours a week (or less) on average is feasible in terms of
time commitment from me.
Thank you for your hospitality!
Jonathan
