I'm afraid there is a misunderstanding here.

I'm not quite sure why one would want to move the event page into
Fedocal.
The current wiki page at
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Events is hard to
maintain. Just look at it: Some of the tables are sorted downwards, others
upwards. Some regions have a different timeframe than others. Nobody cared
to achieve old entries for 2 years.
We want to get rid of this page as soon as possible. First we were told
that Fedora Insight would be the thing, then it was Fedocal. But so far,
the ambassadors have nothing that really matches their requirements.
It's a calendar, why would you want to have all the information
about
the even in the description field. Is that something one would like to
read on his/her phone?
The calendar in Fedocal is not meant to replace the individual event pages
but only the overview tables. In fact, we still need individual wiki pages
for planning, and I am afraid that with
But we still want individual wiki pages for every event and I'm afraid
that without an URL field, people will forget the link. Or they will not
use markup. Look into the calendar how many people actually did this – I
wasn't able to find a single link but only URLs. And most people add not
even a URL, even if it was useful. I'm sure with a custom field it would
be more.
It makes more sense to me to have a short description of the event
and a
link to the wiki page in the description field, which can be done already
now.
I know. The reason to split things up into certain, recurring fields is to
give the events a consistent structure. We could make things like "Region"
or even the meeting organizer free text in the description, too, but we
would loose structure. URL even is part of the ical specs.
Anyway, I think I have explained my case and it is on you decide if you
implement it or not. I will accept your decision and appreciate you
consider my idea. Thanks!
