Bug ID: 2249378
Summary: python-bcrypt depends on obsolete pyo3 version -
issues with Python 3.12
Product: Fedora
Version: rawhide
OS: Linux
Status: NEW
Component: python-bcrypt
Severity: urgent
Assignee: pingou(a)pingoured.fr
Reporter: decathorpe(a)gmail.com

Target Milestone: ---
Classification: Fedora
Version 0.15 of the pyo3 Python bindings for Rust are obsolete, and they do not
support Python 3.12. Notably, due to ABI changes in Python 3.12, I cannot even
guarantee that this package currently works correctly when used in conjunction
with Python 3.12.
Therefore, I strongly recommend to move to pyo3 v0.19.2 or v0.20.0 on Fedora 39
and Rawhide *as soon as possible*. I will remove all versions of pyo3 that do
not support Python 3.12 (and never will) from Fedora Rawhide soon (pending
announcement).
It appears that the upstream project has already moved to these newer versions
of pyo3, so it might be possible to backport these changes to the Fedora
package.
