thanks Christopher,
yes the links works fine, also the xfdesktop package:
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=543669
thanks a lot for the link, I just saw it. well, I cost some time to build manually based on following RPMs.
Thunar-1.6.3-2.fc20.src.rpm xfdesktop-4.10.2-2.fc20.src.rpm
into following RPMs, simply it works, too.
[root@localhost ~/rpmbuild/RPMS/x86_64]$ls -altr total 3920 drwxr-xr-x. 3 root root 19 -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 1290680 Thunar-1.6.3-2.el7.centos.x86_64.rpm -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 167856 Thunar-devel-1.6.3-2.el7.centos.x86_64.rpm -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 1384024 Thunar-debuginfo-1.6.3-2.el7.centos.x86_64.rpm -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 712116 xfdesktop-4.10.2-2.el7.centos.x86_64.rpm -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 448924 xfdesktop-debuginfo-4.10.2-2.el7.centos.x86_64.rpm
I think Devs may need some extra work to build dependencies of these package onto @xfce.
Thanks, suse

Hi Guru,
I was tring to inst xfce on CentOS 7 release. (via epel repo) #yum install @xfce
it works without package Thunar,
I checked following build stats that EL7 rpm is not ready yet, would you help to add this rpm to repo line. thanks,
Have you checked?

Deps are satisfied already based on the successful build of the thunar.

Thanks for the report.
Hi Christopher,
another tiny issue,
link of buildID=543669 http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=543669 will generate package that depend on pkg:desktop-backgrounds
but I dont find this package built yet:
https://apps.fedoraproject.org/packages/desktop-backgrounds
I manually build this package based on fc20, too.
# wget http://arm.koji.fedoraproject.org//packages/desktop-backgrounds/20.0.0/1.fc2...
is there any issue on this package that we dont get it into EL release?

I'm not sure. This package has been split up into 4 packages, and I doubt if RHEL really needs them. The package owners will decide what they want.
Anyway he will receive the broken deps report if he really makes the broken xfdesktop in the EPEL7, so he will fix it soon.
There are some xfce guys in this list, you can await their answers.
Thanks.
Yours sincerely, Christopher Meng
thanks,
I tried to build pkgs manually,
yes the desktop-background may not be a must option for EL, (I think we can just safely ignore it when hit dep. warning.)
I compiled the package into 4 RPMs, just install the basic one to fulfill RPM deps. by xfdesktop.
desktop-backgrounds-basic-20.0.0-1.el7.centos.noarch.rpm desktop-backgrounds-gnome-20.0.0-1.el7.centos.noarch.rpm desktop-backgrounds-compat-20.0.0-1.el7.centos.noarch.rpm desktop-backgrounds-waves-20.0.0-1.el7.centos.noarch.rpm
there are other issues for XFCE users anyway, deps not yet solved correctly,
1. NetworkManager is installed. I still need to inst network-manager-applet manually for XFCE desktop.
# network-manager-applet-0.9.9.0-15.git20140307.el7.x86_64
seems the name has been changed for a long time, just Im using old release fc15, and cost some time on searching pkg" "NetworkManager-gnome"
2. some packages are not ready for XFCE:
I build following packages: based on fc20
xfce4-terminal-0.6.3-1.el7.centos.x86_64 xfce4-screenshooter-1.8.1-2.el7.centos.x86_64
Also there's no default web browser, Mail client, fonts....
icons not working ok, I checked default "gnome-icon-theme" is installed, so switch the icons times, it now works.
FYI and may EPEL working better.
Thanks, -suse

The set of Xfce packages is Not yet finished for epel7.
It's a work in progress.
nonamedotc@fedoraproject.org is heading up the effort.
So, yes, it's expected that things are not fully working yet, it's still being worked on.

If I recall correctly (it's been a while since I last touched this package), the -gnome and -compat packages are used to provide default desktop backgrounds for Fedora's Gnome (-gnome one) and XFCE, LXDE a others (the -compat one, via /usr/share/backgrounds/default.png). I don't think this package is desirable on EPEL. -basic (this or it's equivalent should be in RHEL already) and -waves are both old and rusty, there's no need for them either.

Yup! That's the purpose of -compat packages. I have not had the chance to start a discussion on that - but I guess here we go.
There are two *backgrounds packages in EPEL/EL stream as far as I can tell.
* gnome-backgrounds * mate-backgrounds
I suppose we could use gnome-backgrounds ... Kevin?

Very well then. I will rebuild xfdesktop with appropriate changes.

Thank you for testing out the Xfce packages on EPEL-7.
As Kevin mentioned, not everything for Xfce is built yet. I have only built some of the packages belonging to Xfce DE and I intend to add more soon.
As you can probably see from pkgdb, not all packages have epel-7 branches yet and I have already contacted the owner(s) of the said packages in this regard.
I will setup a COPR repo for some packages as soon as I have them ready. It's not difficult but just that I have to get around to setting them up (which will happen this week).
Thanks! Mukundan.
