In this particular case, it's not really a problem. As for everything else
that's in the portable branch, it's just not going to happen and it doesn't
matter whether you or I think that makes sense.
so basically, if it works with bash, and latest vanilla binutils/glibc/gcc,
the change probably won't be considered ? seems crazy they're not merged when
even fedora applies it. but i guess if you can't get it in, then there's not
much point in pushing the topic further.
in terms of releases, could we get the patches renamed+compressed ?

elfutils-robustify.patch -> elfutils-0.152-robustify.patch.bz2
unversioned files are a pain to mirror, and ASCII files like to get mangled
(newlines) by some servers. and they'd be much smaller :).
