I looked a bit at the gnu gold linker. And it might have some real
issues (PR 10450). But the two issues addressed in the attached patch
seem like they should be allowed/recognized by elflint.
Since addr2line uses elf_getscn and gelf_getshdr it should link with
libelf explicitly. $(libelf) is defined differently depending on
makefile variables earlier. The other programs explicitly link against
This just happens to work with GNU ld currently, since it will silently
try to resolve dependencies through other linked in libraries, but it is
an problem with other elf linkers, like GNU gold, that don't link
against libraries implicitly.
I think we may be ready for an 0.142 release. I did koji test builds as of
409fe10 for Fedora 1 and they built/checked fine. Is there anything
else we want to check or fix before this release?
