[Bug 1333519] New: Some GTK3 themes make gray blocks appear on text editor hiding text
by Red Hat Bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1333519
Bug ID: 1333519
Summary: Some GTK3 themes make gray blocks appear on text
editor hiding text
Product: Fedora
Version: 23
Component: eclipse

Screenshot showing gray blocks hiding text under Windows 10 GTK theme.
Description of problem:
On quite a few third-party themes that are otherwise usable on GTK3/GnomeShell
in Fedora, the Eclipse text editor shows persistent opaque bars at the top,
right, and bottom borders of the text area, hiding text behind them. This makes
the theme unsuitable for working with Eclipse.
These bars do not seem to appear on any other GTK3 application featuring a text
editor area (for example, gedit).
One theme available on the Fedora repos that triggers the issue is
gtk-xfce-engine.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
eclipse-platform-4.5.2-10.fc23.x86_64
How reproducible:
Always (with suitable theme)
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install eclipse and gtk-xfce-engine
2. Open any text file using the text editor inside Eclipse
3. Scroll up and down on the text
Actual results:
Bars hiding text (as shown in attachment)
Expected results:
All text should be visible in text area
Additional info:
Experienced with both Moka theme and Windows 10 theme.

[Bug 1348274] New: eclipse-pdt: FTBFS in rawhide
by Red Hat Bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1348274
Bug ID: 1348274
Summary: eclipse-pdt: FTBFS in rawhide
Product: Fedora
Version: rawhide
Component: eclipse-pdt
Assignee: mat.booth(a)redhat.com
Reporter: mizdebsk(a)redhat.com
QA Contact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: eclipse-sig(a)lists.fedoraproject.org,
mat.booth(a)redhat.com
Description of problem:
Package eclipse-pdt fails to build from source in rawhide.
Analysis: eclipse-pdt requires package
"org.eclipse.wst.jsdt.nashorn.extension.loader", which is provided by
eclipse-webtools, but bundle containing this code is not installed (it's
skipped with %mvn_package __noinstall).
Suggested fix: install skipped module in eclipse-webtools OR mark OSGi
dependency as optional.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
3.7.0-1.fc25
Steps to Reproduce:
koji build --scratch f25 eclipse-pdt-3.7.0-1.fc25.src.rpm
Additional info:
This package is tracked by Koschei. See:
https://apps.fedoraproject.org/koschei/package/eclipse-pdt

Description of problem:
that provides drivers?
and if it could, mysql-connector-java-5.1.28-3.fc21.noarch.rpm
provides/installs:
/usr/share/java/mysql-connector-java.jar
yet Eclipse looks for
mysql-connector-java-5.1.0-bin.jar
and errors, furthermore Eclipse does not detect/see this system-wide jar, user
has to manually add it.

[Bug 1246467] New: cdtdebug: in F22, YAMA disallows ptrace, gdb attach fails and the CDT UI does not report that to user
by Red Hat Bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1246467
Bug ID: 1246467
Summary: cdtdebug: in F22, YAMA disallows ptrace, gdb attach
fails and the CDT UI does not report that to user
Product: Fedora
Version: 22
Component: eclipse-cdt

Description of problem:
in Fedora 22, YAMA disallows ptrace, gdb attach fails and the CDT UI does not
report that to user.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gdb-7.9.1-17.fc22.x86_64

eclipse-cdt-8.6.0-2.fc22.x86_64
eclipse-linuxtools-3.2.0-1.fc22.noarch
How reproducible:
by default in Fedora 22, YAMA disallows ptrace:
> cat /proc/sys/kernel/yama/ptrace_scope
1
Steps to Reproduce:
1. run "cdtdebug"
2. hit F11 to debug
3. select some process running under your UID to attach
Actual results:
attaching to process silently fails.
only if you switch to the "GDB traces" console you can see this:
384,219 18-target-attach --thread-group i1 6638
384,220 18^error,msg="ptrace: Operation not permitted."
Expected results:
Qt Creator handles this failure better, it pops up a dialog that says:
ptrace: Operation not permitted.
Could not attach to the process. Make sure no other debugger traces this
process.
If your uid matches the uid
of the target process, check the settings of
/proc/sys/kernel/yama/ptrace_scope
For more details, see /etc/sysctl.d/10-ptrace.conf
Additional info:
there is a bug about the YAMA default setting:

[Bug 1339362] New: Please unbundle pep8 and lib2to3
by Red Hat Bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1339362
Bug ID: 1339362
Summary: Please unbundle pep8 and lib2to3
Product: Fedora
Version: 24
Component: eclipse-pydev
Severity: low
Assignee: akurtako(a)redhat.com
Reporter: rhbz(a)genodeftest.de
QA Contact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: akurtako(a)redhat.com,
eclipse-sig(a)lists.fedoraproject.org,
jjohnstn(a)redhat.com, npmccallum(a)redhat.com
Description of problem:
Currently, eclipse-pydev bundles a bunch of files in
/usr/lib64/eclipse/droplets/pydev-core/eclipse/plugins/org.python.pydev_5.0.0.201605181100/pysrc/third_party,
notably a folder named pep8 containing pep8.py and autopep8.py and a sub folder
named lib2to3. All those files are provided by their respective packages:
python-pep8, python3-pep8
python-autopep8, python3-autopep8
lib2to3 stuff is included in python standard library, python{2/3}-future and
python3-modernize.
According to the packaging guidelines [1], libraries should not be bundled in
rpm packages.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
5.0.0-1.fc24
How reproducible:
always due to packaging
