Here is a draft for accessories-calculator. I chose metallic colours for this icon although darker black could be a better choice. Huge size icon is in progress without too details. Comments and suggestions welcome.
- -- Luya Tshimbalanga Graphic & Web Designer E: luya@fedoraproject.org W: http://www.thefinalzone.net
Look good so far. But I would like to see some shadows on the buttons - maybe give it a little color and not plain white (a gradient maybe). And take a look at the smallest versions, they are not too clear. Maybe give it some numbers in the display in the two biggest sizes. And numbers on the buttons on 256x256 :)

Buttons now have gradient on white. The screen also got a gradient in order to make it distinctive. Texts are added on both buttons (except two so you can suggest symbols to add) and screen for 48x48 and 256x256 . Top of calculator has been darkened; if that method does not work, I will revert to bright part.

This looks much better! I haven't checked the svg, but the 256x256 seems a little blurry here and there. It could be slightly more detailed (like adding some shadows to the buttons, rounding the corners of the buttons, ...), IMHO. Also, as per our guidelines (the DRAFT ones) the 256x256 should have 1px borders as well as the other sizes. 16x16 might need some more work for better usability.
The keys' lables should be centered (the '*' is a little off, '×' might be better) and there should probably also be '−' and '÷' :-)
Also, take a peak at the gnome icon (dark calculator): http://git.gnome.org/cgit/gnome-icon-theme/plain/gnome/256x256/apps/accessor... and oxygen icon (bright calculator): http://websvn.kde.org/*checkout*/trunk/kdesupport/oxygen-icons/256x256/apps/...
Both might serve as a good reference for ideas for improvement (btw. out of the three designs, I like the oxygen most a with a few changes it would IMHO work great for Echo Perspective too) :-)

Oxygen version is definitely suitable for Echo Perspective when it comes to layout of buttons. I will work on those when I will get home.

Iconset has been updated with the adoption of Oxygen version. Missing symbols for buttons are added. Buttons are rounded edge on two big sizes. 16x16 version is tricky because of contrast between screen and frame. Comment and suggestion welcome.

Looks a lot better now :) It need a little more work on the logo, though. And maybe don't write "on" and "off" on two different buttons - maybe use the "M+" and "M-" :)

Updated version with additional logo and small details on 256x256. 16x16 version now has sightly darker screen for contrast.
Few suggestions: * make the corners of body and display less rounded * on the other hand, make the corners on buttons slightly more rounded * try to add some 3D effect on the buttons and the calculator body in 256x256 * I'd make the display bigger to fit two rows of text (one row smaller for formulas, and one row bigger for results) instead of adding the 'echo' logo * the off/on/c buttons would look better with smaller text * how about making the body of the calculator blackish for better contrast, or, like in oxygen (and maybe even better), making the body bright and buttons dark? * some border around the display (like in oxygen) might help * use less buttons in smaller sizes to increase usability * put some padding between the two top rows of buttons (and remove the line above them) * Did you use '-' (hyphen) or '−' (minus sign) for the minus button? It seems to be shorter than "+"

Updated version with additional logo and small details on 256x256. 16x16 version now has sightly darker screen for contrast.
Few suggestions: * make the corners of body and display less rounded
Done
* on the other hand, make the corners on buttons slightly more rounded
Done
* try to add some 3D effect on the buttons and the calculator body in 256x256
Done. Buttons have 3D effects in subtle way.
* I'd make the display bigger to fit two rows of text (one row smaller for formulas, and one row bigger for results) instead of adding the 'echo' logo
Done. Should I put a formula on top? You can pick an example.
* the off/on/c buttons would look better with smaller text
Replaced by M-, M+, and MR, following Kris' suggestion. Texts are now smaller.
* how about making the body of the calculator blackish for better contrast, or, like in oxygen (and maybe even better), making the body bright and buttons dark?
I will try those soon. I forgot to do them.
* some border around the display (like in oxygen) might help
Done. Because the screen is integrated in the calculator I chose not to make the border too thick.
* use less buttons in smaller sizes to increase usability
Done on tiny size. I think other size are fine because further reducing at 22x22 does not work at all.
* put some padding between the two top rows of buttons (and remove the line above them)
Done.
* Did you use '-' (hyphen) or '−' (minus sign) for the minus button? It seems to be shorter than "+"
Fixed. My laptop seems to not have minus sign keyboard.

This begins to be awsome, Luya! :D To add a little more detail in the 256x256, you can try to make some "holes" that the button pop out of - like in the real world :) Just a little detail. Try to make the numbers look sharp on the edges, too.

Much better. Now only the display seems slightly out of place. Could you try to make it somehow a bit more realistic looking?
Oh and the border of the calculator body seems to have incorrect gradient (brightest at the bottom-right). The shadow could be probably smaller. The '÷' is slightly misplaced.

Agree with Martin. Maybe try to add a very little gloss on the screen - not much. I know a calculater normally don't have a glossy-screen, but anyway ;) - Just in 256x256 for detail :)

Subtle gloss has been added on screen. Gradient from the border of calculator body has been fixed and the "÷" is correctly centred. Let know if there is more adjustment to do.

I have now further comments. IMHO it's ready for upload.

That command caused the push to the base directory because perspective does not exist. I don't remember how to revert it to the original accessories-calculator. Help will be appreciated. Thanks.
