I think the second one (without writing) is a bit too plain, making it hard to be recognized as a notebook. However, for the first one you got the writing wrong: 1. the Z-order, the pen is above the text it wrote, not the other way and 2. the perspective of the writing (which is good on the small icons, not on the big one)

Z-order is fixed. Concerning the perspective of writing, I was wondering how to set a text in perspective way in Inkscape.

Extensions>Modify Path>Perspective.
Before applying the extension the text should be converted to path (including ungrouping and union).
I like the second one - but put some text on the biggest size (real tekst and not just lines). I like the detail with the dark stripe in the top. Try to angle the pen a bit and put some details on the pen in the biggest siz :)

Thank for the instruction. Using that method left a mixed bag result because the perspective does not match what I traced. Can anyone correct that?

Used three lines of text to make perspective users. I am not really satisfied with the result but it looks better than the other approach. Comments welcome
