A gift(?) of security documentation from Product Security to Fedora
by Eric Christensen
Greetings Fedora Docs Peoples,
Red Hat Product Security is looking to liberate several documents from our repositories and get them into the community's hands. The source is already in ASCIIDoc so they should be ready to go (although they may need a little touching up). If you guys are interested, here are the titles we have:
- GCC Fortify
- Securing the Source
- Security Benefits of RPM Packaging
- several 'recommended practices' documents (this might be better going to the wiki, depending on how you want to organize your information).
Unfortunately, all of this information is currently internal to Red Hat and, thus, not even available to customers.
I guess the question right now is, does Fedora Docs even want these bits?
Thanks,
Eric Christensen

Possible quick-docs about Kernel Tests?
by Fabrizio Pasqualin
Hi all! I am partecipating to Fedora Kernel Tests Days since a long time and i noticed that everytime a new test day is announced in the fedora magazine, new users willing to partecipate are complaining about lack of documentation and writing comments like "i'd like to contribute but i don't know how to test or where to find the new kernel, etc." (see: https://fedoramagazine.org/contribute-at-the-fedora-test-day-for-kernel-4...)
Actually the documentation about testing the kernel is bit sparse into different wiki pages and blog posts, so i was thinking of writing a guide/how to specifically for the kernel testing days. I was planning to write a blog post linked to fedorapeople or a post in community blog but then i discovered the quick-docs and maybe is the right place to write on? What do you suggest?
Please point me to the right path, i already started to write a draft, so i can upload something here to be reviewed!
Thanks a lot.
in the future maybe i can add quick-docs for IoT test days and Modularity test days too...

Interested in helping out!
by David Yaffe
Hi,
I'm interested in helping out with improving Fedora documentation. My name is David Yaffe, and I'm a Fedora Ambassador from Regina, Saskatchewan Canada. On IRC I go by str8dgedave.
I am a heavy Linux user, both in my personal life, and at work, where I am a Linux application administrator. I am involved at the local LUG level, and with mentoring new Linux users at work.
A big part of my current role at work is creating user documentation. My previous role was the lead support technician for a Help Desk with 200 agents, where I oversaw (reviewed/tested/edited,etc) knowledge base documentation for both external users and our Tier 1 and Tier 2 agents.
I'm not sure if I need a sponsor to join the Documentation team like I had for the Ambassadors. If I do, I am looking for a mentor.
Thanks,
David

New "Docs common partials" repository/module
by Josef Hruška
Hello,
I'd like to propose and discuss with you an idea to create a repository
that would contain, let's say, partials which are likely to be reused in
Fedora's docs. Today, I think of Feedback.adoc or Legal_Notice.adoc, for
example. But it could be also "about_fedora", "about_silverblue",
descriptions of Fedora's flavors,...
The thing is I am not sure how strong such a use case it is. Will 3-4
document components (partials) which will be reused in up to ten documents
just suffice to make a discrete place (repository? module?) for them? Where
is the threshold? Could it be less or rather more?
I hope I didn't mistake myself and partials can be "xrefed" outside a
module or even a repository.
If the repository existed, it would IMO certainly facilitate also
translations, for example (there could be, I assume, just one its
translated sources).
I don't count myself among you, the docs writers. I have been translating
Fedora for few years. I've also been following your mail list since I first
noticed proposals to leave Publican tool chain. And this idea has come to
my mind very recently, when I try to follow in my modest capacity the
effort to build the tooling around Antora.
Please feel free to react for or against.

Feedback requested: New Pagure group for quick-docs committers?
by Justin W. Flory
Hi all, is anyone opposed to setting up a new Pagure group with commit
access to the quick-docs repository?
I figure this is a less restrictive option to enable someone to be a
more advanced contributor without giving them the keys to all of
Fedora's documentation. This might better align with someone's interests
too, in case they only want to volunteer with quick-docs.
I also thought this could be useful to begin building up a community
around quick-docs to bring in more people to act as reviewers / maintainers.
I'm happy to take initiative on this, but I wanted to get feedback
before doing so. I talked about this with Ankur when I suggested to get
him commit access to quick-docs.
Anyone mind if I set this up? Let me know.
