Re: Docs Workflow
by Christopher Antila
Hello:
Like much of the Fedora wiki, this page is most useful if you already
know what's on it. I tried looking here when I was preparing my
proposal for Summer Coding, and it didn't help at all. Now that I
jumped in at the deep end, I recognize that there is a lot of important
information on this page.
How about...
--> renaming sections like "If you're working on a Guide," or "How to
Prepare Release Notes"? Help readers find what they need.
--> adding an explanatory section describing things like "git" and
"docs-writers" once? This isn't bad on the current page, but it could
be more clear where the definitions are, and there could be more of them
that are not simply links elsewhere.
--> describing each process visually and textually? I like the
commonality between the images, but not everybody is a visual learner,
and we should take every opportunity to use both graphics and text.
I would have jumped in myself, but you requested feedback be posted to
the list.
Christopher.

Assuming noone picks it up, we will have to document this in the release
notes. Can you give a brief explanation on why you believe it is
misguided for the sake of documentation?

Docs Workflow
by John J. McDonough
I've gotten back to working on the workflow page. My initial focus is
on getting resources for new beat writers. My approach here is to label
the various arrows on the diagrams, and then link to other pages with
additional input. There are a lot of resources out there, but newer
contributors don't know where they are, and more experienced
contributors forget about them. Hopefully we can ultimately provide a
useful index to the various resources.
** NEWER CONTRIBUTORS **
We are just getting started with this, so it will be easy for you to
influence the direction we take here. Please head over to
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Docs_Project_workflow
follow some of the links (right now the beat writing is in flux, so help
there would be especially welcome). Consider whether this is helpful
and post your comments to this list.
** EXPERIENCED CONTRIBUTORS **
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Docs_Project_Style_Guide looks like it
hasn't been touched in over a year. You might consider whether this
needs some tweaking.
Also, I will be focusing on the release notes section of the workflow
initially. If you can contribute to the Guides, Announcements or
Permissions sections, please dive in!

Where to document alpha issue with Games Spin?
by Bruno Wolff III
The Games builds have been blocked by various dependency issues since the
end of July. Unfortunately the last successful build has the splash screen
bug making the ISO useless. nautilus-sendto may take a bit to get fixed,
so it could easily be another week before the Games Spin successfully builds.
(The other spins in the nightly composes area have built relatively recently
and the ISOs should be useful for alpha testing.)
We weren't sure where this should be documented. We don't want people wasting
time and bandwidth trying to test the July ISO.

accessibiliy-guide draft

Hi folks!
I won't be able to attend the meetings for the next couple of weeks, and
I won't be online much at all for the next 1-2 weeks at all. I know
there is an action item with my name on it, so I don't want to leave you
guys in the dark!
I built a draft of the accessibility guide, here:
http://galileo.fedorapeople.org/accessibility-guide/en-US/html/
I sent the details to frostbite, and asked him to have a look over the
screen readers part if he could, and let us know where we are falling
down there. Unfortunately I haven't heard from him (I hope I sent it to
the correct address (j.nadeau(a)charter.net - from FAS page for user
frostbite). He doesn't seem to be in the docs group on FAS either, so
I'm not sure if he will see this (if you see this frostbite, I would
love to hear from you!).
Also, If anybody else would like to have a read through any part of it,
I would be grateful.
I'm not sure if the section on the Sugar Platform should be there or
not, since it doesn't really mention any accessibility functions for
people with a disability. If anyone has any comments on that, I would
love to hear you!
I haven't submitted anything to git, since I don't have a lot of
experience with that, but I will wait a few days to see if anyone has
any comments/suggestions, then when I have some time to come onto IRC, I
will see if there are any git wizards around to help me out with that!
Gerard.
