Project goals for F15
by Eric Christensen
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Over the past few releases we've not only increased the content we've
put out but we've also made changes that have been beneficial for the
community as a whole.
Some of the bigger changes that come to mind are the move to Publican
for building our formal guides, Publican-provided web front-end for
docs.fp.o, change of license from OPL to CC-BY-SA, and the move to
DocBook XML.
I'd like to add two new goals to this list of changes: publishing
translations by L10n teams and QA.
Our current process of visiting Transifex several times a day, week, or
month to see if there has been any changes to the translations and if
those translations are ready to be published and also trying to remember
if you've already published them before. It just makes sense to let the
translators that have better visibility into their work push their
documentation out to docs.fp.o and to package their work into an RPM to
be submitted to the Fedora Repos. Our current tool, Publican, should
provide an easy means of doing both especially as we move forward with
using Koji as part of our publishing process. This will require
training and packager status for each language team. Perhaps it is a
tall order but certainly not one that is outside of the realm of
possibilities.
For the QA goal, I foresee all changes to guides being put in front of
an editor/fact checker to make sure that what we are saying is correct
and that the procedures are correct (and most importantly won't bork
someone's system). The QA process can be integrated into Bugzilla (it's
actually already there) and we can keep track of changes in that manner.
Anyone have any thoughts?

Elections for new Docs Project Leader
by Eric Christensen
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Last night's meeting yielded no volunteers or nominations for the
position of Docs Project Leader. I wanted to make sure I opened up the
opportunity on the list for those that could not attend.
So if you would like to nominate someone or volunteer please post it to
the list before Sunday 23:59 UTC. That should give everyone sufficient
time to provide their input and give me sufficient time to ask for a
ballot to be setup in Fedora's voting system.
If no one steps up then I'll continue on in this role.

Docs QA
by Eric Christensen
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
An important part of creating documentation is the QA (or making sure
what we write is not only correct but won't kill someone's computer).
We haven't been doing formal QA on our documentation before releasing
our guides. I'm assuming that we check our "code" before a release but
mistakes happen and that's why I'd like to hear people's thoughts on
implementing a Docs QA procedure.
One thought is to get the Fedora QA Team to help us with this. I spoke
with jlaska this morning and he has added this to his wish list. I'm
open to other suggestions, though.
Thoughts?

Docs Project Leader elections
by Eric Christensen
Next Wednesday, 10 November, I'd like to have nominations and
volunteers named for a vote that I'd like to have take place on the
following Wednesday, 17 November.
If you would like to be considered for the position you should send a
message to the Docs list with your intention to run and a little about
why you want to be the leader.
Thanks,
Eric

Release Notes Error (Systemd).
by Christopher Antila
Hello:
I was reading the Release Notes (for fun - to see what's in this
release... there are some very exciting things!), when I realized that
there is still documentation for Systemd. My memory and this systemd
"Features" page[1] both indicate that this is being postponed to Fedora
15, so should not be included with these release notes.
Christopher.
