Fedora Library
by Gadget Wisdom Guru
Sorry, this email took a few days, but it came up at Wednesday's Docs
meeting
Recently, I filed a Request for Enhancement against Publican that
added OPDS support. Here is a good summary of it...
http://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/OPDS
"The idea of this system is to provide a format that can be used by
eBook readers or even a dedicated eBook reader devices with Internet
access to be able to search, discover, and download eBooks from online
eBook catalogs. The system requires a rss style processor that works
with the distribution system to display choices with descriptions for
the user to download."
This allows e-reading programs and devices to browse through our Docs
catalog. It is already available at
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/opds.xml if you want to try it in
a supported reader.
But, this being the way it is, and being that we package FBReader, the
thought was whether or not we could work upstream with FBReader or
modify it locally to include the Fedora OPDS. It would make for a good
Fedora Library program, in the documentation section, where someone
getting used to Fedora could easily browse the docs, transfer them
locally, and read them, thus enhancing the experience.
Thoughts?

relnotes-content list needs moderation
by Paul W. Frields
It looks like BZ mail to the relnotes-content list has been stuck in
the moderation queue for quite some time. This is bad, because it
means we haven't been seeing Bugzilla entries that have the
fedora_release_notes flag set. There are seven (7) moderators on that
list and apparently none of them, including me, saw these moderation
notices coming through. The list owner addresses (@fp.o) are:
bjensen
couf
glezos
jmbabich
jsmith
kwade
stickster [sic]
If anyone on this list has the moderator password, please visit the
queue and let through the appropriate email. We may want to reset the
password and reset the list ownership. If there's no response to this
email within 24 hours, I recommend we file a ticket with the
Infrastructure team and ask them to expedite a password reset. Then
the list ownership can be reset to accurately reflect current Docs and
relnotes contributors.

Tracking release notes bugs
by John Poelstra
I encountered this problem
https://poelcat.wordpress.com/2010/10/25/fedora-14-kerberos-error-message/
I see that the release notes flag is set for the bug, but there seems to
be no way to tell if in fact that release note has been addressed.
1) Is there a SIMPLE way to know whether this has been included in the
releases notes or not?
2) Does the docs team query bugzilla to make sure all the bugs with
release notes flag set are picked up?
3) Is it or could it be general practice to add a comment to the bug
when the release note has been taken care of?

Open Feedback Publishing System (OFPS)
by Eric Christensen
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Jared pointed out a neat "feature" O'Reilly is trying out called Open
Feedback Publishing System (OFPS)[1]. This allows readers to leave
comments on a particular paragraph of a document.
Contrary to its name, OFPS is NOT open source. There are other projects
that are open source that do the same thing. The one I saw listed was
called Wooki[2].
I'm wondering if something similar could be implemented within Publican
to be used, at a minimum, in our draft documentation. It might make it
easier for people to let us know of problems without filing a bug.
Because it would take less time to leave feedback we might find that we
receive more than we currently do through BZ.

Docs Project Blog
by Eric Christensen
I started a blog on Fedora's Word Press instance for the Docs Project.
The blog can be used as a means for communicating to the rest of
Fedora community using a quasi official voice from the Documentation
Project.
This may be a solution waiting for a problem but I know of a few times
that I personally blogged about announcements that were coming from
the Docs Project. I'm coming up with a plan for this blog but if you
have something you think should be broadcast please let me know!
