Membership requests to Docs FAS Group
by Eric Christensen
I just sent a message to six people that requested membership in the
Docs project (via the FAS group) but did not complete the other
requirements, namely the introduction on the list. These requests are
from between 14 September and 15 October. I'll revisit the queue next
week to determine whether or not these people have met the membership
requirements[1] or not. If not I will remove them from the queue.

An erroneous intrusion
by Luigi Votta
Hi doc team and sparks in particular,
i feel embarassed for my intrusion into the community dir of the
Security Guide.
My commit of the it-IT book, included erroneously also the pot files.
(i forgot to "add" only the it-IT files)
Perhaps it could be useful to stash, but i dont know how to do it.
Thank you
and again sorry for my mistake,
luigi

New Members!

I'd like to apologize for not being on the ball with responding to new
members. Please know that the delay was not a personal slight!
We are getting close to the release date for Fedora 14 so there is a
mixture of work that's being done. Mostly guides are being translated
right now so there aren't a lot of changes occurring. Don't let that
stop you from jumping in if you see something that you might want to get
involved in.
We also have our meetings on Wednesdays at 23:00 UTC in #fedora-meeting
on Freenode IRC[1]. Hope to see you there!

Publican 2.3 is here
by Ruediger Landmann
Hi all;
Publican 2.3 is out today, containing some important bug fixes for
Localization, plus the substantially reworked visual styles that we've
been discussing lately on Publican-list. You can find a summary of all
the changes on Jeff Fearn's fedorapeople page[0], or get more detail
from the very first Publican Release Notes, thanks to Ryan Lerch and
Darrin Mison![1]
Just like last time, it is particularly important for anyone translating
documents or building translated documents to upgrade to the new version
as soon as possible, because of the localization bugs fixed in this
release.
To accommodate the changes in visual styling, a new versions of the
Fedora brand package (2.0) is also available.
To install Publican 2.3 and the updated brand packages on your Fedora 12
or Fedora 13 system, download the packages from Koji [2]
If Publican 2.3 works for you on Fedora, please leave positive karma in
Bodhi so that Publican 2.3 and the brand packages reach the main Fedora
repos sooner.[3] Note that you must be logged in, or your karma won't
count.
Cheers
Rudi

Introducing...
by Scott Thistle
Hi all. My name is Scott Thistle and I am a Fedora Ambassador in Calgary,
AB, Canada. I have also applied to the fedora-docs group as I ... ahem..
like documentation. I have been a user of Fedora since Core, used Redhat 7-9
before that. I am an RHCE on v3 and v5. Have been using Linux since about
1996 and been servicing PC and stuff since about 86. First 'NIX work was
with QNX in 86/87.. Anyway, I want to contribute something back to Fedora
and thought that the Docs program might be a good place to work. I pick up
new things pretty quick, so I hope to be of some assistance quickly.
Thanks
Oh.. On IRC, I am sthistle.. I try to be online and provide help as I can..

Introduction
by Keith Calligan
*Name*
Keith Calligan
*Time Zone / Country *
Eastern Standard Time/USA
*Basic skills and experiences*
I've been working with various flavors of Linux for about 11 years (about 10
years professionally). I obtained my RHCE certification (RHEL 5) back in
February of 2009. Through my work experience, I have worked in various job
roles including network operations, technical support, and systems
administration.
At one time, I ran a web hosting company. Through that role, I gained
knowledge of the Apache web server, Sendmail, Bind, Mysql, and some php
configuration.
I also have some experience working with VOIP on Linux systems. At one of
my companies, I setup a fax to email solution using Asterisk.
Nowadays, I build and maintain Red Hat servers for my company. This
includes setting-up, hardening, configuring, and patching servers that range
from Snort sensors, Apache web servers, mail servers, DNS servers, etc.
I also have a little bit of a networking background in Cisco equipment and
am familiar with basic firewall configuration and theory.
*Why you're joining *
I am joining the documentation project because I’ve learned a lot about
Linux over the years and would like to give some of that knowledge back so
more people can learn. I’m also using this to learn from others in the
group. I've always had a preference for Red Hat for servers and Fedora for
a Linux desktop system, so I think this is the best place for me to
contribute.
*What you're looking to do (be specific)*
I’d like to start with writing some documentation. Some small tasks to
start off and maybe more later. I think I can be of great help in regards
to writing about any Linux configuration tasks.
*How much time you can contribute (usually hours per week)*
I can start out with an average of 2-4 hours a week. Some weeks may be more
and others less.
Thanks,
Keith Calligan
