[Fwd: IcedTea replaced with OpenJDK in rawhide - requires manual removal]
by John Poelstra
Worth a release note? I'm behind on f-docs-list so forgive me if you've
already covered this.

Hello rawhiders!
As of March 13, java-1.7.0-icedtea has been removed from Rawhide and
replaced with java-1.6.0-openjdk. This version should be better
compatible with upstream java.
Unfortunately, the package changeover doesn't happen by default for
people who already have IcedTea installed[1]. You can do this manually.
In most cases you'll just need to do:
yum erase java-1.7.0-icedtea{,-plugin}
yum install java-1.6.0-openjdk{,-plugin}
Hope that helps, and happy testing,
-w
[1] Normally this is handled by increasing the Epoch (if the packages
have the same name) or adding an Obsoletes: (if they don't).
In this case, the packages have different names (technically
"java-1.7.0-icedtea" is the name of the package, not "java") and we
don't really want to force the OpenJDK to replace IcedTea in *all* cases
where it's installed on someone's system.

Fedora 9 Preview Release notes ready for translation
by Karsten Wade
## Resending with a proper subject ;-D
The Fedora Documentation Project is pleased to deliver the POT file for
the Fedora 9 release notes. These release notes are going to be
delivered with the Fedora 9 Preview Release. This provides time for
bugfixes to the content and translations through the community review
process.
Access via Transifex:
https://translate.fedoraproject.org/submit/module/docs-release-notes
More instructions for other access methods are below[1].
This POT file is the largest untranslated/fuzzy file that Fedora
Documentation intends to deliver for the Fedora 9 release cycle. During
the rest of the release cycle the team will work to reduce workload for
translators. If you have any questions, contact us on fedora-docs-list:
http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-docs-list
Definitely let us know if we are missing any of the steps in making the
files available for translators. We'll fix it right away! Stop by
#fedora-docs on irc.freenode.net or send an email back to this thread.
Thanks
- Fedora release notes team

fedora 9 release notes: building localized desktop RPMs
by Murray McAllister
Hi,
I know that you can build desktop RPMs using the existing tool chain,
but if I wanted to build the RPM using publican, would this be
possible?
Would I be able to just split up the existing pot file (since publican
uses a separate pot file for each xml file) into separate ones, so
that translators do not have to do their job twice?
Thanks for your help!
Cheers,
Murray.

Bug 436823: Xserver is always using evdev driver.
Product: Fedora
Version: rawhide
Component: xorg-x11-server
Adam Jackson <ajax(a)redhat.com> has granted Adam Jackson <ajax(a)redhat.com>'s
request for fedora_requires_release_note:

------- Additional Comments from Adam Jackson <ajax(a)redhat.com>
For the release note people:
/etc/sysconfig/keyboard's KEYTABLE setting sets the keyboard layout for X as
well now. The XKB_VARIANT and XKB_OPTIONS variables can be used to set XKB
variant and option as well.

Hi,
After I check out release-notes-devel, I get the following errors (at
the end) after running 'make html':

entities-cs.xml appears to me empty.
My directory structure looks as follows:
/release-notes-devel
CVS docs-common release-notes
Is this anything to worry about before the preview release notes?
Thanks for your help. Please let me know if you need any more information.

Murray.
