You are assuming that the respondent has some knowledge of diversity
matters. This approach is not likely to help unless the respondents
are policy makers.
The best approach would be to ground your questions.

I see what you mean here. Maybe we can rephrase the questions which assume knowledge of diversity to be more events and incident-related questions like you suggested.

Some possible questions in that direction can be :

1. Would more diverse participants( based on gender, race, religion etc ) be better for FLOSS community ?
2. Have you ever observed discriminatory behavior towards people from minority groups( based on gender, race, religion etc) ?

and so on..
Please correct me if I am moving in the wrong direction here.

I edited the wiki a bit, but did not complete it.

I cannot see any edits on the Diversity Survey wiki page here[1].  Can you explain what you changed ?

But see the part about gender identity for example.

Ideas of "minorities" are best approached from a grounded perspective.
How, for example, would you extract information about the intersection
of caste and the FOSS infrastructure in India?
Ask about actual interaction in events, online, personal
conversations, perception etc,
and not about summaries. Even if you are going to ask the questions to
people involved in diversity, you need to ground the questions.
