Thanks for putting this together Jona. How long we are planning this meeting to be?

1 hour will not be enough time to cover all of these topics in one meeting. Practically, we need to divide this list of agenda into minimum 2 separate meetings.

Regards,
Amita

Hello everyone,

As you may already know we have our next team planning on Sunday, May 5, at 11 am CET/ 2:30 pm IST.

Why we are having this meeting?
To discuss the priorities we have as a team for this year, new ideas we can implement in our community and pending work we have from last year.

Who can join?
Everyone! Even if you are new to our community and our team, you are more than welcome to join us. =)

(The meeting will also be recorded. If you cannot participate you will have the chance to check the recording later.)

Agenda for the D&I meeting:
+ Introduction
+ Engagement strategy to grow D&I team
+ Creating a process to select the D&I Council Representative and Team Lead
+ D&I team decision-making process:
+ Language Inclusion in our community
+ Event organization best practices guide for D&I at Fedora events
+ Fedora Classroom Sessions from D&I Team
+ Fedora Women's Day 2019
+ Flock 2019
+ D&I Project in Taiga
+ Open Floor

More details about each topic:
+ Introduction:
A short intro so we know better each other =)
+ Engagement strategy to grow D&I team:
Would be great to have new people joining our team. Either proposing new ideas or helping with the existing ones.
(Ticket #65, #100)
+ Creating a process to select the D&I Council Representative and Team Lead:
We should have a clear policy and process for electing the D&I Council Rep and team lead.
(Ticket #89)
+ D&I team decision-making process:
Creating a decision-making process for our team. When to have Lazy Approval or Full Consensus, what conditions etc.
(Ticket #98)
+ Language Inclusion in our community:
Language is one of the biggest barriers to contribute to open source. We should coordinate efforts with translation teams to make Fedora more language inclusive - especially related to our outreach and awareness efforts. We should determine what content in our community (Fedora Magazine/Community Blog/etc) we feel must be multilingual and collaborate with the L10n team to translate it. What should be the process?
(Related tickets #33 and #97)
+ Event organization best practices guide for D&I at Fedora events:
Tips to make our events more inclusive. At Flock 2018 we discussed it and we decided to have more "How to/what signs etc" rather than explaining why it's important to have it - because it is easier for the event organizers.
What changes we have done until now and the next steps.
(Ticket #54)
+ Fedora Classroom Sessions from D&I Team:
Meskarune suggested having a class on accessibility in Fedora. She suggested talking with blind and deaf Fedora users to see how they use Fedora. The class could talk about accessibility tools available in the OS as well as ways to make things like information resources and media more accessible. There are a lot of different ways you can go with covering accessibility. In order to do this I propose to start with some research, maybe also write an article on Fedora Magazine so we can have feedback and help from people that use Fedora and then write a wrap-up regarding the research and suggestions how we can make Fedora more accessible.
(Ticket #60)
+ Fedora Women's Day 2019:
We have started to talk about FWD 2019 and we had our first call about it. Next steps are to have a wrap-up from last year, contacting the organizers of FWD'18 to have feedback from them what didn't go well so we can improve it, adjust the goals for FWD this year.
(Ticket #94)
+ Flock 2019:
What talk/workshop will we propose this year at Flock? An idea we already have: Speak a non-native language event - Ticket #91.
+ D&I Project in Taiga:
Ticket #99
+ Open Floor:
Time to hear new ideas/what we can improve and do better in our community =)

If you want to add something else on the agenda please let me know.

See you all on Sunday.

Jona
