Hi
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Bugs/FC6Common
We are in pretty good shape for this release. If you have any bugs that needed to be added to this page and you have wiki access, go ahead or let me know with the bugzilla report number. Offlist even. Rahul

I guess it was supposed to read "you don't have wiki access" :)
How about: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=210491
Which has surprisingly low number of bugs which look like duplicates: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=212170 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=212226
This is a show-stopper for me. All my Fedora using friends see it and I've already discouraged few people from trying FC6 before an update is released.

Nope. If you have wiki access, you can add bug reports yourself and dont require me to act as a middle man.

This doesnt seem to be limited to Greek users. The fonts on my mail client dont look good now after the upgrade to FC6. The new default font obviously has some issues not limited any particular desktop environment.

Well, when users report the same font works fine in FC5, that rather points towards FC6 freetype autohinter bugs. Unfortunately it seems no freetype person commented on the problem yet.

I think it's a freetype issue, too. The fonts in my Firefox look much worse now, even if I use the same font (as in the same .ttf file) as in FC 5.

Font rendering regression after updating to version 2.2.1 is a known issue for which I had submitted bug 198082. Try to install the "FC5" packages with option "--oldpackage" and set the hinting from "medium" to "slight" (or vice versa (?)). Truetype fonts look again better for me now. I also rebuilt the 2.2.1 package enabling "bci" but the result was all but appealing.

I've seen this bug, but it's rather about your subjective preference WRT letter density. Who knows, maybe you can even make it work with freetype 2.2 by changing DPI or something. By contrast, in (at least) Greek and Polish, national characters are really looking as if they were taken from another font family or at least size, which is much bigger issue.
Downgrading to freetype 2.1 fixes both kinds of bugs, though.
