Speaking of Exchange alternatives, how about things like:
*
http://zimbra.com/
*
http://www.egroupware.org/
*
http://www.citadel.org/
*
http://www.exchange4linux.org/
*
http://hula-project.org/
In particular Zimbra, it looks very good. Do people have any
experience with any of these?
Zimbra also has most of its interesting features in the closed source
version only
http://zimbra.com/products/product_editions.html .
Like Jos mentioned most groupwares are an interesting mix of Free and
closed source things, where the "nice" features are in the closed source
version.
