At least, 'm4' *has* quoting rules, while it's always an adventure with
'cmake' to write some non trivial things. autotool's language is consistent
across its tasks ('make all', 'make install', 'make check',
'make dist'),
while 'cmake' uses different tools with different syntax/quoting rules and
mechanisms for them. There is so much black magic in 'cmake' that it works
for trivial tasks but it is a nightmare to handle complex things with it.
