If you are running FC1 or FC2, install firefox or thunderbird from
Extras stable. Those show you exactly how it would work in FC3. Nice
looking icons for firefox and thunderbird are dropped into the
Internet menu. And you can use the Preferred Applications dialog to
choose firefox and thunderbird as your chosen apps. The Preferred
Application thing works very well on FC2 and FC3, but FC1 has
problems. Legacy may want to consider doing simple changes to
control-center and gnome-vfs2 to bring FC1's Preferred Applications
capability to par with FC2 and FC3. That would be their call.

i don't know if this is abug or not but all system-config-* tools open
mozilla when pressing help even if firefox is set in prefered applications
