I think there is a difference in perspectives rather than lack of understanding.  You are looking at it from a developer perspective  -  their project, let them do whatever they like but changing the name of a package manager is a extremely intrusive change for all users and commercially supported customers of RHEL down the line and the ripple effects are enormous.  We are talking about a ton of documentation that needs to be updated etc. This change shouldn't be done without very careful deliberation and substantial justification.  The API changes or code being rewritten isn't something that users care about at all.  Some options being changed MAY cause some bug reports isn't enough of a reason to do this IMO.  The notion that such bug reports will consume one hour every day for the development team is just a wild speculation.  FWIW,  I will volunteer to explain to users that this is a different project that choose to use the same name in all such bug reports.  Please feel free to reassign them to me.
