Jeremy Katz gave a talk about it at FUDCon -- the slides are online at
(click on the link in the schedule at
the bottom). It was also recorded; not sure what the status of the video
is, but it's supposed to get put up eventually.
Thanks, that provides some info but I suspect that a lot of words were spoken
which added a lot more info.
I believe I understand how this will (could) all work for an Internet
connected system where, basically, you do a network install for a lot of that
packages (especially those in Fedora Extras). However, how about the
unconnected system? What is the thinking on how it will handle installing
everything from CD or DVD images? Will there be CD and/or DVD iso images for
Extras or will we need to roll our own?
Even for Internet connected systems, if you have a number of systems to do
installs on, you do not want to have to download the packages for each
system ... you (or at least I) want to download the packages once and then do
installs on all of the systems.
I suspect I may be a bit early with these questions and some of the stuff has
not been thought through just yet ... some general goals established but not
"how" to do it.
