Yes but the recommendation should be "never use the disk check feature"
It isn't actually *that* dire of a situation. Most of the time, for
most people, it works as intended.
For the other people, they get a failure that may, depending on things
such as which packages they select, appear be a false positive. But
it's also, at least to some degree, correct. Linux didn't read the disk
right. Sometimes it might read the disk right, but you can bet failure
will happen again, too.
