Of course that would still require a policy daemon to be running, which
is one of the aspects I particularly do not like about the global
registry based approach.
However - A framework that looks and works similar to gconf could be
written based on this idea. Perhaps this was what you meant? The
difference would be that such a framework would not require a policy
daemon to be running.
