I've suggested a temporary enhancement before:
sed -e '/\* [a-zA-Z]\{3\} [a-zA-Z]\{3\} [0-9]\{2\} \(200[0-2]\|199?\).*/,99999 d'
applied on a changelog would drop changelog entries older than 2003.
In heavily developed packages with accurate detailed spec file
changelogs, like oh, I dunno, I'll pick a package at random -
XFree86 ;o), the changelog entries just from Jan 2003 to date are
1114 lines long, and 65Kb in size.
Do y'all want 65Kb emails when I release new X packages into
rawhide every couple days? ;o)
