The OpenEmbedded guys do have some support for generating rpm's. It may
not be 100% due to bit rot, but some people are getting interested in
making the rpm stuff work again.
With OE, the command "bitbake FC6" could produce a set of rpms for the
release and the required install images. By changing the underlying
machine file, the build could be targeted to different systems.

You missed the beginning of the thread. If you check the archives
you'll see there are as many reasons as people who are interested in
this. For my part, I would like to see porting Fedora to new platforms

Well, yes, but you have to start somewhere. Many of the people
participating in this thread use cross tools on a daily basis.
