[HEADS UP] Readline 8.0
by Igor Gnatenko
We have just merged side tag (f30-readline8) into the f30 which includes
readline 8 + packages which needed rebuild against new readline (due to
SONAME bump).
Whatever was failing before and fails now… It just failed.
Whatever was not failing before and fails now… Fails not due to readline
update.

toolchain requirements for external kernel modules
by Laura Abbott
I've been experimenting with enabling CONFIG_GCC_PLUGINS in the kernel
since I've heard some people express interest in stackleak (I'm interested
as well). a gcc plugin gets built as an .so file for use during
compilation. This means we need to package this .so file as part
of kernel-devel for building external modules. This is easy to
do but it also now introduces a tighter restriction on the toolchain
used for building modules since gcc will refuse to load a plugin and
fail to build the module if the versions don't match. Arguably, there's
always been a requirement to use the same toolchain version but there may
have been some flexibility for forcing it.
Can anyone see major problems with requiring the same toolchain
version for building external modules as the kernel?
Thanks,
Laura

Thanks, Pete, but please stop pushing ImageMagick updates unless you are going to do
the full job. There's at least one package that must be updated at the same time, so
please update and push rubygem-rmagick at the same time.
Thanks,
MIchael

%py3_build should accept options
by Richard Shaw
Just want to get others opinions before filing a bug...
Currently %py3_build expands to:
$ rpm -E %py3_build
\
CFLAGS="${CFLAGS:-${RPM_OPT_FLAGS}}"
LDFLAGS="${LDFLAGS:-${RPM_LD_FLAGS}}"\
/usr/bin/python3 setup.py build --executable="/usr/bin/python3 -s"
sleep 1
This does not allow passing of any options that I can tell... For now I'll
just paste this into my spec file.
Thanks,
Richard
