Packagers: incomplete Obsoletes and undead packages
by Michael Schwendt
This is about Rawhide.
The list for F21 is similar, which is especially strange with regard to
any packages that should be marked as dead in dist git already then.
"Dead" = a dead.package file in dist git exists, but builds of the package
are still found in the repo(s). Package has not been retired fully yet.
"Undead" = no dead.package file in dist git found.
"Only obsolete subpackages" = non-trivial, but for some of those cases
there are really some missing Obsoletes tags and an incomplete set of
builds is left in the repo (e.g. a -devel subpkg but its base pkg is
obsoleted).

[Test-Announce] Fedora 22 Alpha Release Candidate 3 (RC3) Available Now!
by Adam Williamson
As per the Fedora 22 schedule [1], Fedora 22 Alpha Release Candidate 3
(RC3) is now available for testing.
No, you didn't miss RC1 and RC2 - RC1 was aborted when we found a new
blocker soon after it was started, and the RC2 compose failed due to
some kind of conflict with the RC1 process. So RC3 is the first
completed compose since TC8.
We are aiming to complete the tests today and run a second Go/No-Go
meeting at 14:30 UTC (that's about six hours from now) to give us a
chance to ship RC3 on schedule if it turns out to pass the testing. So
please, help with the tests if you can, and if you run into any
blockers, be sure to file them and nominate them so we don't miss them!
Content information, including changes, can be found at
https://fedorahosted.org/rel-eng/ticket/6102#
comment:15 (and comment #16). Pleasesee the following pages for
download links and testing instructions. Normally dl.fedoraproject.org
should provide the fastest download, but download-
ib01.fedoraproject.org is available as a mirror (with an approximately
1 hour lag) in case of trouble. To use it, just replace "dl" with
"download-ib01" in the download URL.

All Alpha priority test cases for each of these test pages [2] must
pass in order to meet the Alpha Release Criteria [3]. For the Fedora
22 cycle we are also trying to run the Beta and Final tests at this
time, to try and identify later release blocker bugs as early as
possible.
Help is available on #fedora-qa on irc.freenode.net [4], or on the
test list [5].

Un-retiring ice and mumble?
by Carlos O'Donell
Devel,
I would like to un-retire mumble, but that requires ice.
I've just fixed ice to compile on f21 without much effort.
So I think I'll un-retire ice and mumble and maintain them
unless anyone objects.
Is there any reason ice was orphaned and retired other than
lack of interest?
Cheers,
Carlos.

Using rpmspec to query .spec file macros
by Philip Prindeville
I'm trying to write some build automation using mock, etc. and I need to
be able to query a .spec file for some values. I did a "rpmspec --help"
and tried to go by the output but it never mentions where the spec file
goes in the arguments, for instance!
I tried:
target=fedora-21-x86_64
...
rpmspec --target=$target *.spec --eval="%version"
but this just prints "%version" as the output. How do you query a .spec
file for the macros it defines?
I did a quick search for "rpmspec" "--eval" but this didn't turn up
anything useful.
Is there a tutorial on using rpmdevtools?
Thanks,
-Philip

Fedora 22 Alpha is No-Go but second sign-off try is tomorrow
by Jaroslav Reznik
Hi!
Today at Fedora 22 Alpha Go/No-Go meeting it was decided that Fedora 22
Alpha is No-Go as no release candidate is available. More details in
meeting minutes [1].
But as we're looking pretty good and RC1 compose is undergoing right
now (estimate delivery is 3:00 UTC on Friday), we decided to try the
seconnd Go/No-Go meeting tomorrow. Earlier to give rel-eng chance to
prepare the content for mirroring.
The next Go/No-Go meeting is on Friday, Mar 06 8:30 AM CST/14:30 UTC
#fedora-meeting-2 channel.
