epiphany problems in rawhide
by Jason Connor
This isn't a necessarily a 'development' issue, but I doubt that anyone
on the fedora list would have an insight and I'm using rawhide. I
updated my rawhide and epiphany has stopped working. All I get is a
dialog saying that epiphany as quit unexpectedly. This seems limited to
embedded mozilla gtk component as I can open the bookmarks editor with
no troubles.
I've attached a generated backtrace, but I don't understand what's
happening to generate the message:
`shared object read from target memory' has disappeared; keeping its symbols.
There seems to have been a big change in libcairo, but that's not a
terribly educated guess at a problem.
Does anyone know how to get epiphany to print out debugging messages? or
have a deeper insight into this problem?
Any help is appreciated.

RE: [Xen-users] Unable to update glibc package on FC4
by Hans Kristian Rosbach
Since we are getting nowhere with this, I'm sending a copy to
the fedora-devel list. Hopefully someone will know what needs to
be done to fix this problem.

genhdlist/pkgorder questions
by Orion Poplawski
I build a custom Fedora distro locally with the following commands:
/usr/lib/anaconda-runtime/genhdlist --withnumbers --productpath Fedora
${coradir}
PYTHONPATH=/usr/lib/anaconda /usr/lib/anaconda-runtime/pkgorder
${coradir} ${buildarch} Fedora > ${coradir}/pkgorder 2>/dev/null
/usr/lib/anaconda-runtime/genhdlist --fileorder ${coradir}/pkgorder
--withnumbers --productpath Fedora ${coradir}
Two questions:
- Is the double running of genhdlist still necessary?
- I have been building the x86_64 version on a x86_64 machine because
pkgorder complained when run on i386. Does anyone know if this has been
fixed? Perhaps I'll just give is a try....

Gdk-WARNING
by Pete Zaitcev
Hi, Everyone. A question for GTK hackers here.
I get lots and lots of these on stderr after yesterday's update.
(gvim:8960): Gdk-WARNING **: gdk_property_get(): length value has wrapped in calculation (did you pass G_MAXLONG?)
(sylpheed:2518): Gdk-WARNING **: gdk_property_get(): length value has wrapped in calculation (did you pass G_MAXLONG?)
This seems to happen to a large number of previously working applications.
Is this something that can be corrected in one place, or do I need to
rebuild everything?
The question arises because I use gvim a lot, and that is started from
a command line, so I cannot just ignore stderr.
[zaitcev@lembas ~]$ rpm -qa 'gtk*'

Re: Proposal for a new package called K3DSurf (from the developer)
by taha abderrahman
Hi Ralf,
Thanks for the links. I didn't read all pages but it
seems that creating package for Fedora is easier than
I was expecting. It's not that I don't want to do it
but just because it'll be much easier for me if an
experienced person give us his help (right now, 2
persons are kindly building Debian and Mac packages).
Also, I think that building package is not just
compiling and ziping (for example, building Suse
package need an installation of 3GB, which is
impossible for me).
NB: an rpm package already exists for QIlinux distrib
:
http://www.qilinux.it/modules.php?op=modload&name=distromatic&file=index&...
I'm going to try to do it myself but any help will be
appreciated.
Thanks
Taha

GDM Login Failure
by Thomas J. Baker
For the last couple of days, gdm login fails with "Cannot start the
session due to some internal error." It fails with any session. I search
bugzilla but didn't find any recent bugs like this. Is it just me?

Re: udev and pcmcia
by Pete Zaitcev
I seem to have figured this out. The udev is not implicated at all,
because the kernel will not deliver any hotplug events until the
pcmcia-socket-startup was run (so udev cannot do anything about it).
Harald suggested to look at scsi_replay() in /sbin/start_udev.
I did, and while interesting, it seems like an overkill.
I don't know if we want to enable pcmcia sockets that early.
We do not boot from CF-in-PCMCIA adapter, right? My main concern
is that anything running so early is hard to debug.
Bill, how about adding a script to pcmciautils (see appended)?
