Fedora Goals
by Rahul Sundaram
Hi
We now have a roadmap page that describes project goals for Fedora Core
5. More information should be added about other major things like say
the SELinux MLS plans or the per user /tmp work , under a security
overview (potentially reorganised into layers ) depending on the amount
of indepth details that could be provided. Its a wiki page so everyone
including developers working on the major sub systems could pitch in
with their ideas and comments there.
http://www.fedoraproject.org/wiki/FC5Future
If there are things that is planned for the next release or split up
across versions , new "future" pages for FC5+x could be added to the
wiki. This is just a broad overview of things that is planned to be done
and not necessarily core stuff or code related. If there isnt enough to
time to complete it within the current release, one could always push it
to the next one. It would help the community understand the plans and
serve as a work list for developers.
Thanks to everyone who worked on this
regards
Rahul

Hi
I went to the fedoraproject FC5 future wiki website and I can help out
with the last category: Fedora website / infrastructure improvement. I
have the relevant experience and can elaborate. Can someone please
direct me to somebody who will lead that "module"? Thanks a lot..
Hrishi

Hey folks,
I updated the wiki to moinmoin 1.3.4 and I changed the default theme.
It has all sorts of new things now and some of them are probably even
broken! :)
let me know if you see anything out of place.
Thanks,

OT: Survey facing design patterns and communication
by Nico
Hello everybody!
We are a group of students at "Freie Universitaet Berlin".
As part of our computer science studies we are going to do
a survey facing the use of design patterns in communication.
Examples of design patterns are "Abstract Factory",
"Singleton", "Composite", "Iterator" and "Listener".
If you know what we are talking about, you are welcome to
take part in our survey.
It takes about 5 minutes to fill out the form.
Just jump to:
http://study.beatdepot.de
If you agree, we will send you the results of our survey.
Thanks in advance for your participation!
And sorry for the interruption of your discussion.

Google's Summer of Code
by Emily Brantley

I haven't found anything regarding this in the archives, so I'd like to
start discussion about Fedora Core's participation in the Google Summer
of Code.
Google has announced on their page here:
http://code.google.com/summerofcode.html
that Fedora Core is participating, but I couldn't find anymore
information. While I'm a student, I know that not many of the
developers or lurkers may be active students, though.
Is any discussion taking place about it ? Maybe the first step is to
publicize what ideas Fedora Core might like worked on, and what
languages they prefer. Following some of the ideas linked for many
other projects sounds like a good starting point.
I'm not sure what projects there could be, but maybe we should chip in
ideas ? Completely reworking and adding to system-config-* might be a
nice one, and it's PyGTK so it would be relatively platform-agnostic
(anybody could work on that).
I don't know about others.
If others could start giving ideas or filling in information about it,
maybe we could make a page or wiki about it where further discussion
could take place in more public view (something Google could link to).
Thanks !
Em

Yesterday, I posted my findings upstream. And am awaiting hpa's return.

Maybe it's my PXE (Intel on a Broadcom) environment or maybe it's a
legitimate bug in syslinux? Bit it appears that v3.08 cannot handle
displaying the Fedora logo (or any <CAN>rle-lss16-file<newline> for that
matter) when pulled via tftp.

google summer of code
by ness
I'm not actually using fredora, but I want to be active at the 'google
summer of code'. I've got a strange idea for a project, and I think a
distribution is the best organization to call. My project has not
directly sth. to do with fredora, it's more 'distribution independ'.
Would fredora like to be to mentoring organization for such a project?
If so, I'd be happy to tell you more about my project.
