Kudzu
by Karlan Kayne
I was wondering if someone could help get started in maybe developing for
this project, or would that not be feasible because of the fact I haven't
done asm or device programming(I know c++ very well)

Fedora Core 1 Add/Remove Application BUG FIX in method.py
by caghan ozbek
hi,
i did upgrade my red hat 9.0 to fedora core 1 and it does work perfect
now.
but exist a bug:
Step to BUG:
1.open redhat->System Settings ->Add\Remove Applications
2.select new packages from the gui
3.Press Update button
4.appears Completed System Preparation frame then press Continue button.
5.Get Error mesage "There was an error installing packages." And cannot
install packages
then i fix that bug:
file: /usr/share/redhat-config-packages/method.py
bug line number 733:
bug line : self.packagesDir = "Redhat/RPMS"
fix line : self.packagesDir = "Fedora/RPMS"
i hope you will fix that in the source.
happy programming:o)

Yes, I want to add encrypted root filesystem support to anaconda unsing
loopback encryption. In order to do this, I need 2.6 (or kerneli.org's 2.4
patch) because loop.h has cryptoloop-related additions. I suppose I could
just apply the relevant portions of the 2.4 cryptoloop patch to
glibc-kernheaders. I would like to see this cryptoloop stuff upstream,
though.
Hopefully I'm on the right track now, thanks.

Is there a glibc-kernheaders package created from 2.6 yet? I can not find
one. I understand that kernel developers have stated that use-space programs
should not include kernel headers but I don't understand who sanitizes them
for use in /usr/include/linux etc. Is this the work of the glibc team? Red
Hat?

Anaconda LVM and file system size limitations
by Eric Smith
I just set up a system with a 1.4 TB RAID (on a 3Ware 7500-8), and
have run into some limitations of Anaconda. It seems that it is
not possible to set up an LVM physical volume or volume group larger
than 1 TB, nor to create ext3 (or jfs) filesystems larger than 1 TB.
These limits seem to be hardcoded in fsset.py, in multiple lines like
aelf.maxSizeMB = 1024 * 1024
It's my undertanding that there are problems with filesystems larger
than 2 TB, but it looks like it should be easy to change the Anaconda
limits to a higher value, such as 1536 MB or 1920 MB. Is there any
known problem with doing so?
If I make these changes to Anaconda, how do I create a modified
Fedora Core 1 binary CD-ROM 1? I can't even figure out from where
on the CD-ROM Anaconda's Python files are being loaded during the
install process. I expected them to either be in the base directory
or the initrd, but I don't see them in either place. Is it actually
getting them from the Anaconda RPM in Fedora/RPMS?
I've tried creating the PV, VG, and LVs from the command line then
installing Fedora Core 1, and Disk Druid does show them correctly.
But after I tell it the mount points it gets an error to the effect that
it couldn't tell the kernel about the sda3 partition (the PV). There's
an option to ignore the error, but of course the install doesn't work
after that. I'm hoping that increasing the fsset.py limits will solve
this problem.
Thanks!

IMAP and mbox
by Ola Thoresen
RedHat removed support for ~/mbox in 7.0, and since then we have recompiled
the source rpms as described in
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=18375
It might just be me, but I really prefer mail to stay in $HOME, and mbx is
unfortunately not an option as /home is mounted over NFS.
Would it be possible to either have this re-added in the next build of imapd, or
should we submit these rebuilt packages to fedora.us as 'imapd-with-mbox' (or
some other obscure name) or is there any chance that someone else (who already
maintains the imap-packages) will add these?
Rgds.

Installing from software RAID0?
by Chris Adams
I tried to install from local hard drives that are configured with
software RAID0, and it didn't work. Should I bother to bugzilla this,
or is this just too far into "don't do that" land?
